Should I display both N and L plates?

I just passed my test, and my partner is still learning on the car. We both drive it regularly (her under proper supervision). Do we have to display both L and N plates? Swapping them out seems impractical. And I feel like me driving on L plates gets across that I'm not a fully experienced driver as well as an N plate? Does anyone know the law on this, couldn't find it on the RSA website.

You will have to swap them depending on who is driving. If you got a set of magnetic ones of the rear it might make things a little easier.

You should swap them as drivers change but I've seen cars with both before.

Impractical or not, you're required to show L plates when a learner is driving and N when a newly qualified is driving.

Ive seen cars with both plates around the place recently, I doubt youll have a problem until there is a crackdown on learner drivers being unaccompanied. I wonder is there a law making it illegal to have incorrect plates on your car even if the correct plates are also displayed.

Nothing in the statutes about it. As long as you're displaying the correct plate whilst driving, you're not committing an offence.
