If you get some flies and a bubble float that is a good way of fishing for the trout as well. There are plenty of fish there and they are hungry. A 12 hour session is pretty demoralising for sure but I'm sure you'll catch something with the bubble and fly method. If you google it there are plenty of examples on how to put it together.
