I'm not into MMA, but I came across this fella called Conor McGregor, who has a mix between a Dublin accent and some sort of Hispanic accent. Whats the story weet ees aksint?

Fair play to the guy. He has the potential and opportunity to be at the top of his game. It's something he has obviously worked hard at. Sure he comes across as cocky but I think to be at the top in sports like MMA you have to have complete self belief. I don't for a minute think that is his actual personality. He is playing the game and like him or not, he is playing it well. Looked at the first two episodes of Notorious and was disappointed because I thought it might show more of his real side but I suppose he can't let it slip. Good luck to him.

Also re: giving Siver the finger. I think that's a totally reasonable response to Siver refusing to touch gloves. Neither action is particularly classy, but I can see where McGregor was coming from there. And to his credit, he's never anything but respectful in the post-fight interviews, all the pre-fight trashtalking is just theatrics for the peanut gallery and wannabe Ali-esque banter

North Americans have trouble with thick Irish accents. When I lived in Vancouver, people couldn't understand when I said the number 5. They thought I was saying 3.

So I totally understand why he is talking slightly retarded. Happens nearly everyone that moves that side of the world!

He has said on numerous occasions he is humble in victory and defeat and all the trash talk before the fight is just that, trash talk.

He lives off his confidence, so if it's working keep it going.

Great to have an Irish lad in the ufc about to fight for a belt, following his dream.

Hes a smart boy, hes playing a game and playing it well to maximise his profitability hes not going to last for ever and he knows this. Fair play to him people can slag him off and call him a spud eating paddy or whatever in the states, but hes laughing all the way to the bank and he makes no apolagies for it.

And I don't think Siver needs you to stick up for him, he's a big lad (for a lil fella). Those saying that McGregor doesn't have genuine respect for his opponents are wrong to be honest. In competitive combat sports, people always respect the man or woman they're going up against. Conor knows his opponents are going through that exact same gruelling training routine day in and day out, he didn't get where he is today by not taking people seriously. What he does then is engage in sh*te talk and bluster that American fight fans lap up. They demand to see him in action and that's how he commands the pay-days he does. As much as I can see how people like Poirier and Siver would be p*ssed off with him, his antics are also responsible for them competing in heavily-covered big-money fights.

Despite being high off his ass on adrenaline, he says absolutely nothing derogatory about Siver who he just demolished. Instead he focuses literally 100% of his comments on Aldo, and all he really says is that he's coming to take his belt, hence the "spitshine" comment. If you really are dense enough to need a translation, all he actually states is something like "I will beat Aldo in our upcoming fight".

By the tone of your post you seem to be the one who is outraged.

I love watching the man fight and will be buying a ticket if he fights in Ireland again having been at the majority of his fights before even got to the Ufc but I don't have to pretend he is a classy guy just because he is Irish.

That's exactly how I see it. MMA is just like WWF but with actual fights.

It does venture towards soft gay porn at times though.
