most insignificant county in Ireland

What would you consider to be the most insignificant county in Ireland? For me it has to be Longford. Its just a small insignificant county that you never hear anyone saying "im off to Longford for the weekend". Doesn't do great in gaelic or hurling either. Does it have any positives about it? People of Longford, prove me wrong.

The winner has to be Longford. I can't think of anything going for the place. Close runner ups are Carlow and Monaghan in that order.

Longford by a country mile! Has a street named Analy park (otherwise known as razorblade alley).
Longford town, is the roughest most depressing place you could ever visit. The main road going through it makes no sense and lacks road markings!

I'd agree with the OP in that Longford is Insignificant and should really be amalgamated into the surrounding counties. There is absolutely nothing worthwhile in the county and the best thing about it ts the road that takes you through it without having to stop.

Theres probably a reason why the road is so bad and that is to discourage people to enter such a kip. Not only has the place have nothing positive going for it to attract people in but its also in the back arse of nowhere and full of those awful clowns off youtube showcasing their animalistic lifestyles and calling out fellow itinerants for petty fights. Longford reminds me of an Aldi Store as when you enter it the place is just dead and depressing

I think it's too subjective. It depends on your interests in life.

If your a pure townie then places like Fermannagh, Kerry, Cavan seem like dull places.

However if your anyway interested in outdoor persuits then these very counties will have huge significance.

Two other things from previous posts;

Obviously Fermannagh is in the six counties portion of Ulster and not the free state.
Fingal is essentially an administrative county rather than a geographical county.

Has Blanchardstown too, which has 70,000 people roughly as well as a hospital, large shopping centre, the National Acquatic Centre and an Institute of Technology.

I've said it before but most of the Midlands is pretty dreary. the same can be said for the south, west north and east.

Nearly every county has somewhere that's beautiful to look at. For example Westmeath has some lovely lakes and fishing spots. In general though it's a bit of a hole.
The same can be said for everywhere else. Ireland's a very pretty country so generally there'll be something pretty in every county but the towns themselves are all variants on the same craphole theme.
