Playing NTSC Einhander on Pal playstation using Breaker Pro

I recently purchased Einhander for PS1 and have tried to get it to run using breaker pro; the issue I have is when I run game under PAL output through breaker pro game boots in colour displaying square soft then reaches wait then goes black ðŸ˜ž
If I run game in breaker pro using Ntsc output game fully loads and plays but is completely grey.
Any help or suggestions would be amazing. Waited ages to get this game and can't get a colour picture

You're using either RF or Composite cables which will display in black and white on a PAL PS1 when playing NTSC games. On top of that they give utterly disgraceful picture quality.

Get a proper RGB scart cable. RGB is universal so will display NTSC in colour on your TV (don't ever play games in PAL or I will hunt you down for this sacrilege). On top of that you will get a massive increase in picture quality and have the best video output you can get from a PS1.

Then do yourself a favour and RGB the rest of your consoles for that delicious picture quality, it makes a huge amount of difference.

Thanks for your reply I am using a scart cable I got from console goods uk on eBay I got all my consoles hooked up via scart cables; I agree way better picture quality. I am confused on this ntsc signal business ðŸ™ˆ is Breaker Pro at fault here or tv settings tried it on crt and flat screen tv same results

It's definitely RGB scart, not composite, the yellow white and red cables? Some TVs (well most) only have the AV1 channel modded for RGB so maybe try just using the first RGB scart slot.

I know for sure my PS1 which is chipped displays NTSC only in colour, everything else is black and white unless it's PAL. Could be the breaker pro. IS it a Playstation or a PSOne model, mines a Playstation model.

It's a RGB scart and it's the earlier Playstation; can't understand why when I choose video output as PAL on breaker pro it loads in clour square soft title then wait is in colour then screen goes black and nothing; if I choose ntsc as video output on breaker pro it loads and plays game in grey. Frustrating missing something hopefully something small; otherwise I might have to get someone to mod my Playstation to play ntsc games

The game wasn't meant to be played in PAL, there's probably a timing issue there that crashes the game. Anyway you'd spoil the game playing in PAL, the music and game would be much slower and it would play like crap even if it did work properly.

A mod chip might be the best method to fix it. I'm sure someone on the console mod forum will be able to help.

I'd try it one my time maybe trying the disk swap trick. The game will boot in NTSC and should work through RGB. I don't recommend doing the swap trick all the time since it will kill your laser very quick but it will eleminate if it's the pro breaker or not.

Might I suggest just modding the console.
That swap trick stuff is a drag.
A mod chip will fix the lot.
Another suggestion is buy a PS2 and modchip that, then you can import for both formats as both PS1 and PS2 will play, plus they'll be in colour.
Your RGB will work on that console as well.

If having a mod chip installed is a bit too much hassle, just keep an eye out for a PS1 that already has one in it. They come up for sale fairly often, and for cheap too.

I wouldn't play PS1 games on a PS2. It puts a lot more stress on the laser.

I have a TEST PS2, plays all regions out of the box, both PS and PS2, which is nice.
No modding, swapping or other nonsense required.

I experienced this before, years ago, on a Dreamcast I think. Can't remember what was causing it. What TV are you using? can it handle a 60Hz signal?

Some TV's can't handle 60Hz through composite or RF but RGB is a universal standard so if the TV can display true RGB it can display 60Hz through RGB in colour.

Actually that's a good question for the OP, are you sure you are getting true RGB? A good check is to look for dot crawl between where different colours meet. A good test is the Konami logo at the start of most Konami 16 bit games.

The black & white/crappy grey image is composite video, TV can't decode the chroma piece of the signal so no colour information is available.

Bought a more expensive RGB scart from eBay (€24) and it works great as previously cheaper Scart I bought (€12) was supposed to be Rgb compatible but screen was in black and white. Highly recommend this game as well obviously in full colour of course

€12 not bad would be worse if Einhander didn't play just glad I'm getting to play this properly instead of watching review of it on YouTube

You're games are going to look absolutely gorgeous with that RGB cable as well compared to rubbish composite so it's money well spent! Now RGB up everything else!

I agree Scart is best way to go I have my main 7 consoles I use regularly connected via scart; next project is to get Earthbound to work next, just bought my scart and power adapter from console goods in the uk just waiting on U.S. snes to get shipped from the U.S. so fingers crossed this works
