The key interval was set to 600 seconds (10 mins) if I change this to 99999 seconds will that stop it dumping out?

Weird how it was set to 600 seconds! As far as I know, that gives out new ips which would disconnect you Irish te process. I could easily be wrong as I'm not the best with this

Upgraded from 30mb to 240mb no prob install. Getting full 244mbps when directly connected to ubee but wireless can range from 40mbps to 1mbps in the same room standing beside the ubee!! Virtually non existent any were else in house. My old Cisco modem and netgear router on 30mb package gave me 20mbps anywhere in house!!! Help!!!!

This sounds like a 2.4GHZ interference.

Nowadays pretty much everything electrical that transmits uses 2.4ghz and high interference is possible.

1. Try changing the channel on your router. You cisco might have been using different channels
2. Use 5ghz wifi if possible as this frequency is less prone to interferance.
(provided your devices support 5ghz)
3. Download some sort of Wifi Analyser app and that will tell you what other 2.4ghz are in the area an what channel within the frequency are unused so you could then select them within your modem.

Had the same problem las night, wifi speeds dropped to 2meg across the board, switched to 5ghz and instantly back in the 100+ range.

For those using an Iphone, you can try an app called Fing.
Very good internet analyser tool, show all the devices connected, their mac addresses, open ports for each device,plus you can ping you router and this will test the time it takes to reach your router and come back to you, so you can rule out if its your wifi interference or the actually speed UPC provides.

Tried bridge mode a few times seems to allow me to engage 5ghz but none of my devices can find it? Is their a particular set of channels that are easily found? Weird also my Nokia 625 picks up 2ghz signal but my hudl2 iPhone 4 or dell vostro1015 struggle with 2ghz signal.

there is ALWAYS a mysterious UPC wifi being emited on channel 1. must be one of my neighbours, their signal is alot stronger than mine showhow and always 1st when i search for wifi etc. means i have to use channel 6 or 11 which have weaker wifis connected but still not perfect.

if only their was a way i could sneakily login to this random persons router and switch him to channel 11? :P :P

Can anyone advise me how to stop my internet disconnecting after 10 mins? I only just got this router from UPC and have never had this trouble before. It happens when I'm streaming my sky multi room on my xbox.

Yes I have both Sky and UPC in the house, bonkers I know.

You don't need bridge mode for 5ghz wireless.

The 625 and iphone 4 are 2.4 only, I would hazard a guess and say your vostro is too.

Yes that was my initial post about the issue. I set it to 99999 seconds but it still disconnects after 10 mins.

If this is working and stable. then this is great news, it means that as long as you are on IPv4, there is really no difference between this modem and the Technicolor/Thomson.

Lads my Ubee is gone wild.

It keeps rebooting every two to five minutes. I done the hard reset twice and didnt help. Internet works fine when its on.

In relation to Ethernet speed problem, UPC rep said that engineers are looking into and just coincidentally the problem started right after, as if the settings or something were interfered.

What do you think of the system Log?

Update:

Had an engineer out today, and the Ubee I had developed a fault apparently.

Got a replacement Technicolor and I'm back to normal now. Ethernet speeds tested on the same device now reaching close to 100 meg, so there was definitely something wrong with Ubee Ethernet ports.

Will do.

Technicolor has the same menu as Ubee, so everything is the same, nothing changes in that aspect.

Although Technicolor did resolve the ethernet speed issue I had, Wifi speeds are terrible in comparison to Ubee. The range is poor and also the wifi maxes out at 150mb, while Ubee will do over 300mb over wifi.

Thanks for posting again in the UPC section, surely i could expect the same result off them

So either way, i would have to request some features to be unlocked for port forwarding etc even though there are links for some hidden features. Just gonna wait and see what happens first before asking about that.

I could cope with bad wireless range and speed as long as the wired devices in my place gets the most they can but it don't make it right either as it will be an issue for loads.

All other modems from UPC have UPC servers listed, or none.

Its DNS caching. Eircom do the same with their VDSL service. Reduces load on DNS servers as the router "remembers" recent requests.

One of th'biys got one of the Ubees a few days ago so I finally had a play around with it this evening. What an awful POS.
Did some tinkering with Duplex settings and it's actually worse if you hard-set a port to 100mbps FD than it is 100mbps HD.

I have this ubee too and couldnt figure out why my ethernet connections are so poor.
If i were to get another router and put it upstairs and use the ethernet ports on that would it resolve the problem?
I have a 3 story house and the wifi is poor on the 3rd floor,could i also have a second wifi network with this second router?

If the router in a gigabit ethernet model, then yes.

And yes a second wifi router can help improve wifi performance.

I dont know if i should disable the wifi altogether on the ubee or switch it to 5ghz,only 2 of the 12 wifi devices in the house support 5ghz.I bought another router today,it has gigabit ports but is 2.4ghz only.Im thinking it would be useful to have 5ghz but if its going to have an adverse effect on the other router i can do without it.

Just be aware that even with 5ghz some devices won't reach the full speed. It also depends on the wifi card on the specific device.
5Ghz signal is also much weaker then 2.4ghz.

I use 5ghz in my house occasionally, and for example on kids android tablets on 5ghz the max speed I get is around 40mb.
My Ipad on the same 5ghz will do around 130mb.

Hi all, got the upgrade to 240mb and ubee EVW3226 but then discovered than my laptop is only 10/100 so maxing out at 40mb when connected by ethernet cable.

Im wondering how i can upgrade my laptop.
I use it in a different room to my modem/router so a usb ethernet port adapter wouldn't be ideal. My laptop (lenovo g510) doesn't have an expresscard slot so would something like this work or what are my options?

Have this router the last few weeks on the 240mb and unlimited calls. The last week or so i seem to restarting it quite a lot. Last night i could only get 1mb dload and about 15 up wifi or connected. I plugged it out restored factory setting reset it. Got up this morning and same speeds . Plugged it out and back in again and suddenly it works again. I have noticed lately that the wlan light is flashing and then its constant. Should this light be constant?
