Anyone get a ewe taken away lately (say the last three or four months) and how much did they charge you?

I have, but just want to see other prices.

I bring the ewe s to local guy 6 miles away €20 he charges

If you bring them in I used to pay 20euro I think, been a while since I took one in. 30euro collected (that's what I paid a few weeks ago anyways)

€30 collected local knackery. another option If you lived near a district lab, you could bring it there and have a autopsy done for the same money to include vet referral fees.

It used to be 15 delivered to the knackery but I think it's gone up to 20. They charge a bit less if there's more than 1.

Maybe a silly question but what happens to the animals? Do they get into the animal food chain or are they just cremated or buried?

Couldn't tell you to the mile but he's closer to you than me. He's the other side of the county. He does this run on specific days so he's not coming for one animal. €37 was the last price for a sheep, rang a lad this morning but he couldn't remember when that was.

There'll be a lot of greycrows and foxes kept fed if it stays at €100, lads won't send them away at that money.

If it's the lad that comes to us aswell , they tried to fleece me on a calf last year . I sent off 2 in the space of a few weeks and the second one was over double the price of the first . I had the second cheque made out the same as the first but the driver said it wasn't enough but he took her anyhow . The woman in the office rang a good few times looking for the balance . They didn't get it but will probably look for it again when I have something else to go

He probably doesn't want the business but has to provide the service or his license won't be renewed.

There's a crowd in Ballinrobe also I think. Will have to do a Mary Harney on it next time.

Mr Colour indeed ! I wouldn't mind but we sent 5 animals last year so it was stinging me to pay for the last one without a price rise aswell. We had nothing dead in 6 years before that so hopefully it will be another 6 before I have to go ringing

I'll have to look back to see , both were both new born and I think the first was around €40 and they wanted over €80 for the next one , and they were taking a cow with the second one so they were getting paid for her aswell .

I had a two month old calf die in the summer and your man said it's normally 35e but as I gave him a lift with it into the back of the van he only charged me 30e.

Ewes around here cost 35e collected

The department will have to review the ban on burial in some areas if that's the sort of profiteering that's going on, the charge of €35/ewe should be enough to compensate for isolated collections, it's only costing about €6/ewe to get them rendered
