I actually own this exact model, so if you have any questions about it, just ask!
I can easily say it has one of the nicest screens I have seen on an Android tablet, it is also similar in design to the iPad mini, and the build quality is excellent. The SIM slot feature works well, and I have had no issues making and receiving calls and texts on this tablet, as well as using 3G data while out and about.

Ordered one last week on Aliexpress primarily for use with my Ion iCade. They're supposed to be quite good indeed except I read there's a dodgy batch going around with poor screen quality.

On rooted devices, yes. I had no issues moving apps to my SD card on this tablet.

For image quality and to purchase locally would you get similar with the Kindle Fire HDX at €105 (after voucher used). I want a tablet as I'll be travelling soon for 3 months so movies/books/surfing etc. is what I'll be primary looking for. Ideally strong and good battery life.

You can't avoid custom charges, its pure luck really.
PM won't accept it if theres customs due. Unconfirmed reports they let you pay any customs on it and will then accept it. Bit of a risk though.

I was going to get one of these but it just said the code was used up. Is there any other codes your aware of? Looks like the code was a good one to drop it down to €154 after use.

Would I be better off using Parcel Motel or shipping this to my home address?

The one I ordered on AliExpress the seller has a depot in the Netherlands so it's coming from there. Hopefully that should mean no customs charges (I hope!).

If they don't have warehouse over there it means that they are just using NL post to send it to Ireland but to NL it goes from China/HK - so it mean longer route but will not avoid customs in 100%.

Mine came today (and I stress it's a different model from the OP's and a different vendor) and thankfully I didn't get caught by customs.

Has the Google Play store installed and while there are a few Chinese apps that I'm clueless about overall I'm pretty happy. Haven't had time to use it much yet and it's early days. Only problem I've noticed is that it's too thin!!! (if that's a problem)...bit loose in my Ion iCade compared to the Nook HD+ I was using all the time.

Mine has Android 4.4.2 and in the badly translated instruction booklet there are instructions for downloading "firmware updates" from the Cube website. I assume this is for updating Android? Not sure what else it could be.
