That wasn't too bad. Infairness you get b!tching threads every other day on here on how much of a money scam (I know not the regular posters) nct is but the system works if the car is in good condition and well maintained it will pass if not it won't. If anything the testers tend to give you the benefit of the doubt on something's.

You still have to pay €55 every year once your car hits 10 years old so just like the new tax system, this affects those who can't afford a newer car.

Add lost days wages or paying someone to take it for nct ( as I just did, because I have 13h shift today), petrol too.

Well I pay 111.16 every year regardless of age plus the newer cvrt is gone harder to pass than an nct I recon so nct is a bargain to me at 55.

This past week in the RCZ and indeed the drive back to Dublin earlier has really made me think about how much I love the car so much. Its odd, I was just smiling the whole way home.

I'll be surprised if the GT86 makes me smile as much.

You (& I) Also pay €333/year for tax regardless of engine size/emissions.. Think we get the better deal :pac:

We'll not on newer stuff. The golf van my dad bought will have to be tested next summer and it's 142 plus on emissions it would be 180 to tax as a car but van it's 333 commercial 560 euro private. Look I'm not complaining about that stuff or vans or cvrt's as it doesn't really bother me I knew all that before I bought it. But the whole nct being a rob I just don't get. Sure it would be great if it was free for everyone but you know that's life. Testing every year at 10 years old I'm not that against maybe it could be bumped to 12 years ie a 2 year at 10 years but other than that I can't see any problem.

The nct makes the roads safer. Maybe not for regulars on here as we look after our cars but it's everyone else that's the problem. For example how many cars go into the nct everyday with severely cracked and worn brake lines blow bulbs, severely worn suspension components, bald tyres With nct that wouldn't be picked up on. At the end of the day if brakes or other serious components fail on a car it's a 1.5 ton block of metal uncontrolled going potentially 120 plus kmh.

Any plumbers here? :P trying to get one to fix a leak but nobody wants money apparently. All I'm hearing is excuses etc.

Half temped to become a plumber at this stage.

Plumbers must be one of the worst trades to get. It's the same in kilkenny impossible to get a plumber. My dad just bought the relevant tools and plumber tape some fittings etc and he just does it himself fixes any leaks and stuff. Obviously he wouldn't touch gas or boilers that stuff takes proper knowledge and experience.

Water leak (not major) on the tank in a gas boiler/heating combo. Had a guy from electric Ireland out earlier to do the gas service and he wouldnt touch it when he found that.

I sold 2nd hand cars from a small dealership years back, must never have sold a freshly NCTd awd car as I used to always use the report as a measure of how good the car was, total spoof but the punters used to love it

Bit of feedback here. Would like to change from my 16's to these 17's if I could source a set in a breakers at the right price. Not sure if it makes a real difference, or if it's worth changing at all......

No problem sir. I asked daveycc to pass it on to the next boardsie who might need it when he's finished with it. There's always someone who needs one at some stage. I think theres another one that's doing the rounds too

The 17's with a lower profile tyre are gonna look better but if you're doing big mileage on rough roads I'd stick with the 16's.

17s, infinitely nicer than what's on it. Similar by the 17s really stand out more. They're still very comfy on 17s anyway. The fathers had 17s on his titanium x and it was a fantastic cruiser on any road.

It'll make a huge difference to harshness!

Would still be plenty of profile with 17s. Wouldn't bother unless you get a near perfect set though.

Ya still only thoughts in my head, them 17's can curb easily, and most I've seen have been damaged somewhat. If I stumble across a clean set, I'll snap them up.

17s are small wheels these days. You'll only kerb them if you're careless and not used to how wide they are which I reckon you're well used to by now!
