It's a very good film despite the simple Clancyesque 'Bad Russians' theme. You feel like you're in the subs with the actors; it's kinda claustrophobic.

One of the biggest cliches in action movies is the 'false finish' (i am shamelessly stealing that term from pro wrestling)

We've all seen it before. The hero or hero's fight the bad guy and have him beat. Looks like all is done and dusted but no... bad guy comes back for some more fighting then finally gets beaten.

They did that for one of the spider man films, it was terrible.

Young sports team is terrible, can never win a game, big guy bullying shy kid with great talent.

Old guy, used to be great but never made it cozza injury or booze takes over

They train so hard and learn life lessons along the way

They win the big game against the big unbeatable team because of teamwork.

Big bully helps shy talented guy to get the winning score as their dads hug in the crowd.

End of the game the bully goes to shake the shy guys hand and say " hey, well done, your alright chip ".

Army characters that never follow procedure but somehow are tolerated and never seems to get thrown out of the army.The Hurt Locker is a prime example of this.

In reality they wouldn't last a day in the army I would say.
