You could try FastFit. Before you do though, have you done any basic checks to see if your AC is actually engaging?
When you turn it on you should hear a "click" which is the compressor engaging.

Yeah i have, and it is engaging as far as I can tell. There is a noticeable difference between demisting with it on, and with it off, it is quicker with it on. However it is still far too slow! Anyone have a clue about pricing?

Halfords are 25 for a regas on trade so a touch over 30 I'd say?

Battery on Beemer has always been dodgy - seems to a common fault due to high level of electronic functions plus the car is not driven that often - and is now completely dead. Lovely local garage man (services and has done body work on other car) will source one and fit it at a time of my choosing. Another good reason to stay local.

I got FastFit to gas my Air Con. Cost me €50 (same price as Halfords).

They do a 'test' of the system before gassing. If they find a fault they won't gas it, and it's free.

They gassed mine and it lasted all of about a day and a half. I went to a local A/C business and asked them for an opinion. They said my condenser was leaking.

When I said this to FastFit, they gave me a full refund without any real hassle at all (did have to wait for a cheque in the post, though).

I'd recommend them on the grounds of them being sound, if nothing else.

When I get home today I'm going to pull the engine cover and check if any are leaking. Best case scenario is that the injector seal has failed.

Also, in relation to my car battery issue, it turned out that the connections on the battery, well one of them, had managed to come loose somehow.

Was delighted when I noticed it. I think it'd been like that for a while, to be honest. Maybe it's placebo (and i hope someone here can clarify) but my headlights seem to power further up the road and there seems to be more 'kick' from the car. Is it possible to drive with a battery not fully connected? And if so would it have these kind of side effects? (poor power and bulb issues?).

I think Im just trying to convince myself, really..

Either way, still took 5 times to turn the car over this morning. Wrecking my head! :mad:

The connections being loose on your battery wouldn't effect your lights remember that when your engine is running it's the alternator that power everything not the battery. The loose batteries would become an issue when running electrics with the engine off and starting it. If you alternator was in good condition you could probably drive the car with no battery in it at all once it was started now obviously that not something you'd try specially with new cars and all there warnings.

As for the starting issue what do you mean by turned over 5 times as In you had to turn on the ignition and try turn it over five times. Is the starter motor lazy as in not turning the engine over quickly as that would mean a battery on its way out. Obviously if the battery is good it's a mechanical issue. You could try makinga video when it's hard to start.

Typically Japanese it looks lighter, lower and rev happy. Probably less comfy than a french car

Yeah I thought it was just me trying to convince myself alright..

With regards to starting, sometimes it's a bit slow to start (slow "cranking"), but most of the time it sounds okay, but it just doesn't actually start the car.

I tried to do a video before and when I had the camera at the ready, and pressed record, the car started first time, perfectly :rolleyes:

I'll try again tomorrow though. It does seem like it's giving it all it can, but it's cranking and trying and trying and then it starts to sound like it's just giving up on itself and it dies a death. Then I try again (and again) and by the time attempt 3 or 4 (or in rarer cases, 5) comes around, it starts without a bother, and won't give any other hassle at all.

It only seems to be in the mornings. I can drive it for 20 minutes after getting it going, and then leave it sitting for a few hours, and when I return to it, it'll start no bother at all. But once it's left overnight, it becomes a nightmare to start.

I'll get a video up tomorrow, of tomorrow morning's effort. Knowing my luck it'll start again straight away though, once i've the camera ready. :rolleyes::P

The RCZ is really rather comfortable. I've had it to Limerick and Cork on a few occasions (from Dublin) for work, and the ride was really good. It isn't very low either, so I haven't had any problems with it on any sites.
The 86 is a TRD model, it'll have stiffer suspension, I know it won't be as comfortable as the RCZ, but I know it'll be awesome fun in most respects.

The new house has a room for three cars in the garage. I don't how well a third car would go down though, :pac:

Just wondering considering the last for morning the car was frozen over I normally leave it run and let it defrost itself but considering that take 5-10 mins I'm thinking de Icer spray is a good option only I've heard rumours that it can damage paintwork is there any truth to that ?

I used to use that stuff on my bluebird during the winter, it was always real good, i don't know if it damaged the paintwork, but then again I didn't care.
