Often derided as a "chick-flick", but it is so much more. For anyone who hasn't seen it, An Officer And A Gentleman is quite simply one of those very special films that only comes along every once in a while. There is genuine human drama, trying to better oneself, trying to fit in, trying to live up to others' expectations, romance, the lot. It also features a truly towering performance from Lou Gossett Jnr. as Gunnery Sergeant Emil Foley (for which he won an Oscar).

The other one that does it for me is the ending of Apocalyse Now when Sheen goes after Col. Kurtz, with the Doors playing the End.

Too many scenes, I love movies. The scene that really caught me out thought was that scene from UP, didn't expect that from children's movie. Anyone who has seen it knows the bit I'm talking about.

Dodgy 'ageing' of the characters aside, I bAwled. And bawled again.

The most satisfying and final resolution to a series ever. I loved those characters so much
