Well there's two ways of looking at that. The first is, that it does say in the article that he was considering resigning even before the budget. (hindsight is a wonderful thing)

The second is, if the protests are now starting to have the effect of making some TD's, politicians, party members etc resign, the protests have been a success.

Theres nothing stopping you not getting mains water and fending for yourself, nothing at all. You wont be required to pay IW a penny.

Joe Costello interviewed on the 9pm news,said that the government needs to act quickly on Irish Water.

He said that a referendum should considered, in order to ascertain,what the people want.

He also said that the referendum,should also consider privatisation.

Very interesting post about the price of water in Belgium where water is scarce.
It is far cheaper than the prices IW want to charge.

The referendum could only cover the privatisation question and would be a foregone conclusion.

If they asked what the people want, I imagine most would vote No to water charges altogether.
