6.Tighten amateur/pro rules
With youngsters, it is becoming murky territory with the practice of lining out as amateurs until they are suddenly about to secure a move cross channel - which leads to the rushed confirmation of pro status - damaging relations with the feeder clubs that nurtured them.

Make all cup ties €5

The cup competitions are losing their allure until the semis or even the final because of economic realities. Part of the complication is that clubs do not include cup games in the price of season tickets and that is a turn-off, along with the aforementioned fixture backlog.

Some clubs have looked at concession prices for cup ties; unless it can be factored into season ticket prices than drastically reduced admission as a nationwide initiative is worth trying.

Also, any European success needs to be watched by a large viewership, that would probably get a few maybes to along. The qualification can be some of the most exciting times for LOI fans, even not including their own clubs. Often non regulars keep up with these results too. I'd like to see them shown.

The FAI must start compensating clubs for TV coverage of games and telling TV they have to be played at 745 on a Friday or Saturday if they want to insist on a 7 kick off.

Easy enough for people to say put cup games on the season ticket but the games cost money to put on with security and steward costs.

Smaller clubs rely on gates from clubs that travel well to meet budgets too.

Plus the FAI would hardly like their 20% cut being eaten away.

The last few years have been tough going for us Longford Folk, and if ever a man could **** this up it's TC. But I think we'll see the Rovers B match out and go up in style. So happy at the minute!

Bohs currently offer cups games for a €5 for members, that covers the away club fee and fai fees it's a loss leader but it's seen as an incentive to become a member.
We've trailed it this year and figures show that it didn't really increase the attendence.
We don't have much to go on in saying that as past few seasons we didn't really have big team attractions as per say .

Dundalk selling tickets online for the last day already. Loads have already been bought by CCFC fans. How bloody stupid is that of Dundalk? Surely they should go on sale in the ground to match attendees. What happens when there are a few hundred CCFC fans in among the home fans on the night especially if it actually all on the line?

For the record, the way CCFC are doing the sale of away tickets is Members then Season Ticket holders, then general sale. We are getting 600 but are negotiating for more (I think 600 is very generous tbh).

Edit: No longer. But I wonder how many tickets were bought in Cork?

Especially dumb if Dundalk seal league before last game and loads of tickets have been bought by Cork supporters.

Well if that happens they will get to sell the tickets twice as Id imagine only a handful will bother travelling if thats the case.

Just seems a recipe for disaster if it is vital.

Costs around 8k to show a game.(RTE would need to show 500 games, which at average 13 a year would take 33 years to accumulate that cost).*average based on last 7 years.

Do you believe JD? Said he was helping Pats with DCC and Michaels which is bull**** (Kelleher helped FAI write down debt).

But did he explain why the FAI are pocketing the TV rights money and LoI clubs are not getting a share?
Every televised home game means a loss to the home team due to smaller gates.

All the clubs agreed to TV money being lumped with prize money, so I would imagine a club cannot refuse a live TV match.

Delaney also said with a straight face that Ireland has gone through a recession and cuts had to be made across the board.

4 million might be the overall cost of covering the LOI and doing the highlights show as well as the live games. Cameras at every game, producer, director, editors, voice over, presenters, panellists, cameramen etc. etc. I'd say 4 million over 4 years wouldn't be a million miles off what it costs to cover the LOI as a whole.

They'd also assume they could be filling that timeslot with something that could generate more advertising revenue.

We've don't want them to be shown live without adequate compensation.

Just split the money between the clubs if that story is true and RTE can fcuk off back to their marquee barstool whoring.

Should have tried to negotiate a 4 year €2m deal where we get a highlight show but they don't have to show live games. A €500k per year TV deal isn't bad for a league our size..

Not that the FAI would have given the €2m to the league.

This is the crucial issue. Any compensation would have went into the FAI's pocket.

If the supposed ransom money was paid and diverted to the clubs while retaining a highlights show and the FAI cup final, it actually would have been a sweet deal.

Thanks very much, yeah it's a sad reflection on both Tolka and the League as a whole really. I was still getting awfully nostalgic walking around the place.

Amazing shots from Tolka. Those discarded chairs look sad if that makes any sense, despite their bright colours. Have you got any from Dalymount? Would love some POV shots of behind the Tramway End etc. Also, the lanes behind the Connaught Street stand outside the ground are like a throwback to This Is England or something, some great opportunities there I'd say. Very gritty.

PS I saw you in Richmond the other night on the terrace snapping away. When I saw someone doing that I was wondering ''Will I ever see those photos pop up anywhere ever?''

I was in Dalymount during the week actually, I'll publish those photos probably tomorrow. Busy enough with the small matter of Longfords (hopefully) impending promotion tonight!

Glad people like the photos, I've been planning this for a long while now, am trying to visit every ground, as well as the grounds of some of our defunct clubs.
