This thread is for discussion of the SPARK operating system on ST7162 Based Satellite & Terrestrial Combo Receivers

Spark is the default, out of the box, operating system on these boxes. Spark is a basic, stable, operating system for those who possibly just want a simple box, which you can watch both Satellite and Terrestrial channels.

My Amiko Alien Triple won't load plugins -I put them in a folder called plugin on my USB - the box goes the usual procedure - update plugin etc but when I go to install it is not showing in the plugins.Anybody else come across this?

the format off your plugins in the plugin folder is probably wrong , sometimes when you extract the plugin there is a plugin folder in the plugin folder which is wrong and if it is move the inner one out and delete the empty one and try again

I don't know what im doing wrong.Havew put the db_201409171615 file on the usb,put it in the front usb.Went to system,then upgrade,then upgrade from usb.
Changed upgrade type to database.
Changed folder to c/db_201409171615/version and keep getting Failed stbid does not match?????

you need to select the version.xml and then upgrade

unzip/extract the main folder but dont unzip the appdb.tar in the folder

could you upload a picture of sytem information in the system part of your menu to see what might need updating. . it may be the u boot version or simular

ur u- boot version is not upto date
one of the lads mentioned that as an issue before

i think i remember being recomended to install the Spark resue image which i have in my dropbox folder

download the rescue image from my dropbox install it in the way it instructs in the how to install it

then check your u boot version if its version 1.1.002-4 then you can update to latest firmware again

Maybe one the others could confirm this aswell

1) USB flash formated in FAT32
2) Unzip the downloaded file
3) Copy "spark" folder from unzipped file to USB flash
4) Turn off your receiver
5) While pressing OK button turn ON rec on the back
6) After a few seconds "Forc" appears on OSD
7) Press "< or >" arrow to select SPARK
8) Press "down" or "up" arrow to select FACT
9) Press OK and it will start upload

Its OK though as I got another recovery image for gm triplex and am back.just updating to new version of speak now.

ok so after all that its the same.
When I go in to upgrade it says current 1.2.13 Database 1.1.0 Kernel 2.6.32.00
U-Boot 1.1.002-4

Having big problems using my Amiko Alien 2+ box - user manual seems like it's written in a different language...

Firstly, I've been trying to get Spark onto my box - I presume its not there as when I click on Spark from the main menu I get a 'network failure, please relogin...'

Then under system on the main menu, neither the Upgrade nor the PVR/HDD Setting are available for selection - they're coloured grey.

And I can't locate where the latest version of Spark is available for download on http://www.amikostb.com/?q=home I'm sure I'm missing something obvious...

Also, bbc channels come up with BBC 1 (28) or BBC 2 (28) - so while the tv station name appears after scanning the satellite, the picture is not transmitted despite my installer indicating that the satellite is picking up the correct frequency for the station. Very frustrating as the only reason I got a satellite dish was to get the UK stations.

Any help on the above would be appreciated.

spark is the operating system that starts up - no need to get into it

the spark portal in the menu is linked to the spark website and will only connect if your connected to the internet

the Pvr/hdd menu only works when you have a usb/extension drive connected to one of the usbs

the latest version of spark can be got in the portal if connected to the internet or http://www.amikostb.com/?q=product&id=153 if you click on Downloads

the channels should work do a blind search

you can load my Database from the utilities - ill be updating and extending the database in the next week , ill post it when im finished organising it

I have not being in Spark in about a year, so can I create my own channel database by rescanning? Do i have to do a factory reset first?

Also a good while ago I downloaded a Spark channel list that represented the sky bouquets. Now its out of date. Can I not use this list in conjunction with you list to create a new channel list (if you know what I mean)
I am using Spark Editor at moment to arrange your list into Entertainment, Lifestyle, Sport etc... but its taking such a long time.

Lads,
When I press fav I get the list of channels in each bouquet ie:sports=sports 1 sports 2 and so on.
Can you change it to give a list of bouquets first and then select which one for a list???
