Great to see people take on work like this....I always say; despite what some people would lead you to believe, detailing isnt rocket science!! With the right products and the correct advice; anyone with a bit of patience will get amazing results!!

Obviously Vectra with a bit of experience, is more confident (than most) with a polisher and sand paper, but that all comes with pratice!

Nick has a Big grin from Ear to Ear so he has.

There are a couple of little spots that are high on the bonnet needs rubbing down but I need to let the lacquer harden a bit more.

Started on my car 2 weeks ago by taking the alloys off and cleaning and sealing them. I did the little time consuming jobs like the honeycomb grill and exhaust tip so I could spend all my time on the paint.

I started yesterday morning and gave it a full going over with snow foam, de-tar, de-iron, clay bar and then snow foam again. I dried it off and brought it into the shed where I could relax and take my time regardless of what the weather was doing.

Hand polished it with CG Pro polish 3n and then sealed it with CG Jetseal and to just give it a little bit extra shine finished it with OA Perfection. All that was left to do was the trim and glass but I found every bit of trim I did I spent more time standing back admiring the shine and the work that I had done. I finally got it done and took some pics in the overcast weather so hopefully will get better ones when there is more light.

I was so happy with it I brought it for a drive to see the performance gains with all the weight saving from less fall out and better aerodynamics with the air better able to glide over the paint

Now the countdown is on for the first bird crap to appear

So, a couple of weeks ago, I finally managed to get rid of the swirl marks using Menzerna FG400 & SF4500 and then topped off with Menzerna Powerlock

Today i decided to give it a mini detail

Washed with Meguiars NXT, dried and a coat of OAC Perfection.
Wheels Deironized and topped with AG alloy seal.
Tyres dressed with Meguiars Endurance gel
Roof trim and door pillars given C4 as it was looking a bit tatty.
Some 303 Protectant on the interior.
Wiper blades cleaned with IPA
Glass cleaned with AG Fast Glass
Exhaust polished with AG metal polish and a squirt of AG Autofresh inside.
(Anyone know of mint air freshener spray?)

Almost on cue, it started raining just after i had finished. Beading shot in the Beadophile thread

I think it may be getting lowered around 15/20 mm as well

Today I Did wet extraction for a friend in his VW Transporter T5 camper van :P

Process:

Pre soak with AS G101 (5 min)
*Spray with AS Brisk Low Foam through a Numatic CT 370 and let dewell (5-10 min)
*Brush with a stiff upholstery brush
*Extract with Numatic CT 370
(***repeated twice for rear and passenger seats and three time for drivers seat with some random stain removal)

The camper has its own separate heater so no need to let it running with the heaters on.

The owner of this car was told by a mechanic that there is no fix for the oxidation covering the lenses, with a set of new units costing near enough four hundred euros she done well to do some research before going any further.

Such a gombeen when it comes to detailing, and the Mondeo needs a wax. What do I do, wash it dry it and then apply the turtle wax? Will that be sufficient, or will it need more products?

You could do that, but really all youve done is wash it

If you want to get it looking extremely well, you should consider a few more steps; there are quite a few but they are worth doing. Also, the Turtle Wax...is it their paste wax or some other product? There would also be better products available that would be far more durable.

Essentially if you just wash, dry and wax the car, you have washed away the non-bonded contamination, and are waxing over the bonded contamination (which regular washing will not remove). Various methods; de-tar, de-iron/fallout remover and claying, removed the bonded contamination, to give much cleaner paintwork, resulting in, better shine and better bonding of the protection you apply, either wax or sealant, which ultimately gives better durability too!

Cleaned the GF's car this weekend along with her nans and my pug, was a busy Sunday!!

Her car got the full works:
SnowFoam
Rinse
De-iron
Rinse
De-Tar
2 BM Wash
Clay
Wash
Coat of AutoGlym HD wax - was going to use collinite, but it sad to be used on a lukewarm surface and it was a bit cold so I skipped it..

Her Nan's car was manky- been sitting up quite a bit, lots of green bits and tree crap on it
2 snow foams, de-iron and de tar, 2 BM and it was looking a lot better, did discover a few rust patches so it may be more work on the way there

Pug got a SnowFoam and quick 2 BM, Dave can take care of the rest later this week

So, I had this lovely RX8 in over the weekend for a bit of work. It got a wash, wheel decontamination, detar, clay, wash, coat of perfection and the glass polished inside. As with all Mazdas, the wheels need a refurb despite looking fine in the pics. In person they're fairly scratched, chipped and rough.

The pictures are showing tree sap and lots of crap all over the car. After a wash, the paint was incredibly rough and it took quite some time to clay.

It's coming back at some stage for an interior and engine detail but for now here's a few pics:

use toothpaste if not bad.

If bad headlight restoration kits can be bought and all equipment needed included in kit. Go to any motor factors be around €20

Chrisfix put a new vid up on fixing hazed headlights which is interesting.
