We were only gone about 30 mins but he obviously seen us leaving and was in not long after through the front door that he forced open. My mam had a habit of locking bedroom doors when she was going out so he bust open all of them and damaged all of the frames. He ended up getting a large sum of cash that my mam was after taking out of the bank for a holiday, along with some jewellery that had more sentimental than monetary value. He went out the back door when leaving but the dog got a fair chunk of his leg it's just a pity he didn't get more. He was caught, sent to Cloverhill for a few months but was back out within no time.

They would regularly drink behind his wall, and smash bottles against it every night. Fight, scream abuse, the Gaurds called all the time. My dads a gentle soul, lived on his own liked box sets, music, good people and animals for company. But scum would regularly taunt him and abuse him, when he used to go and clean up the broken bottles outside his house. He was fed up enough that he confronted them one night, told them to clear off. They knocked at his door 1 day later and punched him in the face, knocking his teeth into his gums, and his mind into next week. They threatened more. He planned to move out within the month. He was that stressed. House was on sale, he had the cash, it was all good. He had a sudden heart attack at home later that month, it killed him on the living room floor despite the best efforts of my brother and the Dublin paramedics, he was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. His house was vacant for 3 days while my mother, bother and myself, made funeral arrangements for our dad. Within that time his house was raided of all it's belongings, (they were drinking by the back wall while dad was being carried out to the ambulance) they even tried to set fire to his bedroom to hide all traces. Yea, there are scummy people about, my sympathy goes out to anyone who has been broken into.

Was a horrible feeling, pure anger followed by a feeling if stupidity for not setting the alarm. She was devastated, our sense of security and homeliness wiped in an instant. The night it happened was awful as we had to send the kids to her mams and we sleep in our sitting room until we got the window fixed the following day. The next day in case the bastards were still around I went to argos and got every light up decoration I could find and lite the house up just as a fcuk you we are better and stronger than you. We found our family and friends were everything we expected and we replaced everything in time. She just never settled though and we are in the process of moving.
