Recommend an Android Box that runs XBMC - [No copyrighted material]

Guys/Girls,

Would be graetful for recommendations for an Android box that runs XBMC.

Would be grateful to know things like which firmware is best, which processor i.e. quad core or dual core

Any other info. that you boardies think is imporatnt would also be appreciated.

Actually wright and wrong, there are several modded versions that do work Oman release a version that ships with the Beelink/Tronsmart devices http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.php?12919-xbmc-which-can-Play-4k-rmvb-h265-video-on-amlogic-s802-platform

Stan1983 who wrote the Linux roms for the beelink/tronsmart and M8 devices also made an android xbmc for amlogic - http://www.stane1983.com/downloads/

So the Beelink device ships with this already installed? Or do I just install the apk myself?

More info,seems the newer ones do run Gotham AMD Oman 13.1 is good as you have said before.

OK folks I should be picking up the X8-H tomorrow.
Whats the first things I need to do?
1.update the firmware
2.download the minix version of XBMC

I can then load up the addons ,is that correct ?

Hi Big Nelly,

I have an X8-H on my main TV and just got another one for a 2nd TV. I plan to have the same set up on both for ease of use. XBMC will be the main app and used primarily for streaming content from my NAS but I'd also like it set up for IPTV and the popular movie add on's etc. I've set up XBMC before using both vdubt25's instructions and XBMChub which I know is now TVaddons.

I'd appreciate your thoughts on:-

1. What firmware should I have on both X8-H's? (Is there a new FW due in the next few days I should wait for?)

2. What version of XBMC should I install? I'm currently using official 13.2

3. What XBMC configuration wizard is best to use? vdubt25? TVaddons? Other??

It seems it won't run Gotham so this allows it to run 13.1.
23% would still bring it in under €100 though

If I was you I'd buy it off Amazon, £66.99 with free delivery fulfilled by Amazon, so around €85, you'll have it sooner, and going by thread on freaktabs, if you have to return to geekbuying due to fault, you will have hassle.
