Brendan Cummins making his debut (?) tonight (first time I've seen him on it anyway), doing a decent job but Loughnane taking over. Speaking of Loughnane, he made an interesting point about Johnny Ryan supposed to have gotten the AI replay last year but Cork not wanting him. Didn't know counties (or perhaps just Cork?) have such a say in things like that.

Higgins didnt foul jod for the penalties .
Higgins blocking and tackling were exceptional. Jod relied heavily on donaghy for feeding.Moran relied on no one carried the hod himself.
Jod had a great match but Moran outshone i think.
I didnt expect Kerry to get this far cause i believed they had no leader. On Sat they had 3, Moran donaghy and o Se .

To be fair, I agree with you that Moran should have won MOTM. Having been on the ball 2.5 times more often than ANY Mayo player he was the outstanding player on the pitch in my eyes.

Just making the point re:JOD that I don't think picking him should automatically mean someone should be banned in future, he was very good!

That seems very odd.Surely the players should have a choice .

I can imagine all the accusations of sexism that would be thrown around if camogie was part of the GAA and they had to wear skorts.

It's a bit disrespectful to cut off the speech although TV3 did something similar after last years Ulster final.

I've never been to a camogie match but I'm wondering what the average age of a camogie supporter would be? I had to turn down the volume of my TV when watching it today. All that of that high-pitched screaming seemed to resemble a One Direction concert (not that I've ever been to one of those either).

its a great day for kids because its an All Ireland final with easy to get and cheap tickets for children. Ladies football final will be similar in two weeks, lots of schools/underage clubs take buses to these finals

Playing the Camogie final alongside the men's U21 would add some atmosphere to the occasion or even switching it to a smaller venue but it seems it has to be Croker or nowhere.

I'd agree. The main hurling counties are pretty much the main camogie counties also. Having the junior and intermediate final in Croke Park is great for those teams but really if it was on elsewhere it'd have the same crowd.

Meanwhile I think last night was the first time in years there was any kind of half decent crowd in Thurles for the u21. I know the sponsors of the u21 are based in Thurles or something like that but a bit of common sense would be helpful. The u21 was played before the camogie a few years ago. I think the attendances were ok but don't have figures. Maybe it was a case that the u21 final was taking away from camogie's big day?

I know that, in reality, it would be difficult to do this as both codes are run by different organisations but at least it would add an extra bit of atmosphere to the respective occasions, and it would also mean that the All Ireland Hurling Final replay wouldn't be sidelined to a Saturday evening.

didnt one of the female analysists last night say they wanted to play before the mens or did i mishear her?

i assume she means before the senior all ireland (which will never happen) but i guess the real issue is that theres 3 ladies finals to be played, so i guess they need their own days. the u-21 final should definately have been played in Croke Park yesterday tho and it would have added another 16,000 to yesterdays crowd there perhaps.

For the first time I've seen (may have been there for the drawn final) RTE made good use of some extra camera angles when showing replays of scores today. You can actually see the ball go over.

They used always have this camera angle behind the goal looking throw the netting and you could never tell at what point the ball passed the posts. First game I saw on Sky this year and straight away they made it much clearer with an over head angle that was above the netting that helped you see it better. A much needed change in my view.

From the second he says "35 scores, 33 from play", you know where we are going to go.

To equate a "great" game to the amount of scores is ham fisted analysis. Being a partial Fermanagh man (aeons back) I endured that match with Cavan. GASH, does not do it justice. But scores, are not a fully true reflection on how good or bad a game is. The same way that a HF not scoring a rake of points in a match isn't a straight up reflection on his contribution.

Anyway, in short, Spillane is a clown.
