Learning Journalistic Shorthand

Not really sure if this is the right place for this but I was wondering if anyone on here has learned or taught themselves journalistic shorthand writing?

I was just curious if anyone had any good resources for it, whether it be a website or a book or something like that?

It's just standard shorthand TBH although most develop their own unique style as they go along. It's unlikely you'd be able to read someone else's shorthand even with experience.

I regret I didn't learn shorthand when I was college age and it would be a lot more difficult now (mid 40s). Try to find someone to teach it, it's far easier to learn from someone rather than from a book.

There are two main systems, Gregg and Pitman. Gregg is generally considered easier to learn as Pitman uses different line thicknesses to impart different meanings.

The book is out of print, but here it is.
One piece of advice - Don't skip chapters - it all leads into each other, for example if you Learn the symbol for A and pass out the chapter that explains that the symbol for A is also used for something else, then you'll be a bit lost.

Have fun, it is easy to learn and there are many exercises online you can test yourself on.
If you follow the book chapters, you will find yourself making your own variant of the shorthand as Galvo Clare pointed out, however I disagree that anyone is too old to learn it. Although he is right that if you can find a teacher it will be a lot easier.
