A) Mata was on fine form pre-season hopefully Swansea was just a blip. His set pieces and crossing were great on the weekend just needed someone on the end of them. C) Pressure on his place with Angel Di Maria coming in. D) He could easily nick two this weekend or indeed in any of uniteds next fixtures. Granted if I captain him Rooney looses out and if he goes goal wild (which also could happen) i may lose out. But I just think Mata has alot to prove but also has the ability to do it.

Most have also cheaped out on defence and gone with the current big three up top of Rooney, Sturridge and Costa. I don't think I saw one Chelsea defender in the top 5 teams!

Guzan is a decent keeper Vlaar and the returning Okore are a massive step up on Clark and Baker. Cissisoko at LB will be an improvement also. Hutton and lowton to fight it out for the RB spot. Added to this hopefully will be the signing of Sanchez who will be a massive improvement as the DM

If it was me I'd captain Costa or Rooney. Too early in the season for risky captain moves when there are clearly better options available.

Currently my team (with this weeks transfer made) is Courtois, Gilks Coloccini, Van Aanholt, Clyne, Hutton, Caulker Mata, Fabregas, Siggy, Ramsey, Albrighton Rooney, Costa, Feltcher 3.0m in bank. 113 points, 146k overall but will drop after tomorrow's game and auto subs. My main concerns in order are: Caulker, 5m for a QPR defender, what were we thinking lads!? QPR look pretty bad at the back, despite being close to scoring again today a couple of times today I think he has to go probably for somebody at 4.5 or less to leave funds for the attack. Hoping people have other priorities though as could do without losing money on him. Fletcher. Sunderland don't look like scoring loads, and Fletcher has not stood out yet. Probably worth giving him another week given they are playing the aforementioned QPR. Not too many good options for the cheap third striker strategy. Man United. Mata will hopefully stop haemorrhaging value now at least, and is probably the best United attacker to have for now, may look at Rooney to Sturridge in next couple of weeks. Overall I think this team is on good enough shape, my main mistake was going Sanchez over Ramsey and is now corrected. My main strength was my subs and rotating defenders who have been solid enough. Certainly no urgency to wildcard and my intention would be to try to keep it, especially as the team value benefits of playing it early seem to have been somewhat eroded by the changes in price rise rules, not to mention the difficulty the price change prediction sites are having. My main decision is whether to use my surplus cash to upgrade the third striker to a 7.0 to 9.0 players (possibly upgrading Rooney to Aguero or Studge) or to upgrade the 5th mid to an 8m player such as Lamella, who was a preseason fave of mine and who I'd love to get in my team.... Any thoughts on team or strategy would be helpful as ever....

Vlaar is a good shout in defence at 4.6, 14 pts from 2 games so far. Hadn't even realised Fletcher was still at Sunderland. Personally take the leftover from a new goalkeeper and get a stronger attacker (that said he is playing QPR next week who as you said seem to be very poor defensively). I'd leave that midfield alone, looks very strong.

Lemlin wrote: » You've too much tied up in defence and not enough in your attackers. If it was me I'd take out Cahill or Terry this week for someone cheaper and then upgrade an attacker. Bony is a decent pick but you're still missing out on having 2 of Costa/Sturridge/Rooney that most people have now. I'd probably go Cahill to Hutton because even though Villa have poor fixtures coming up you'll rarely play your 5th defender and you'll have Kompany and Terry playing every week with one of Coloccini/Bruce/Hutton. That'll free up 2 million to upgrade an attacker.
