This thread is for discussion of the ENIGMA operating system on ST7162 Based Satellite & Terrestrial Combo Receivers

SAB Unix Tripple
GM Triplex

Enigma is a Linux based alternative to the default Spark operating system on these boxes. Enigma is a more customisable OS and provides the ability to add plugins which can accomplish many tasks enabling users to have a box which might look and perform like a Sky box, giving a 7 day EPG and an alternative to series link

Few things, you never added a channel list, the sats are set to single so they need to be changed to advanced 28.2 to work and autobouquets won't run.

Never came across that before to be honest. Incase it is that his is set to 1080, maybe flash mine and see how you get on. At least if that doesn't work then you know it's something else and not the screen resolution

Have you got one or two satellite feeds into the box? Are you sure they are in the correct slots?

Got in with the name + pwd ....OK. Thanks

Just checked, my sattelites.xml file is there.

Only one cable at present - into the LNB input closest to the edge (I think thats Tuner 1).

How do I set the tuner, if i'm looking at the wrong one ?

Swap the cable at the back. You really need both

Go to menu -setup - service search and turn off the second sat tuner by setting it to not configured.

Not at the box now to check but if you look at the back of the box just double check that its in lnb1

No need to swap the cable if he sets the unused tuner to not configured. Box will work fine then.

I scanned nothing. You need to do a full scan of both Terrestrial and Satellite.

Fair enough, I just tried to do a nit scan with autobouquets though and it wasn't playing ball. Installing another version of ab now.

I swapped the sat cable input to TUNER 2 -
Now on reboot it does exactley as before but stops at 'Start' , just before displaying the station name.
(it does not display the station name).

Seems to mean that it is reading some data from the LNB tuner1 input ?

Rebooted - same thing.
Tried powering off the TV - to see if the HDMI might negotiate with the STB. No good.

Still puzzled.

No they're separate. One has no bearing on the other. And you have channels working in spark?

I copied down 'settings' file to look at it.

this line appears in it.

config.tv.lastservice=1:0:1:2EEF:7F8:2:11A0000:0:0:0::Kerrang!

So it's getting the displayed station from that file, I expect .....not any info from an LNB.

Also :

config.av.videomode.HDMI=720p

No problems in spark.

Will revert to Spark again just to check - but i was in spark earlier tonite.

Did you say you have channels working in spark? that would rule out sat/lnb/tuner issues

Don't know why thats happening. Its a new one on me. Do you see the sky boot logo when its starting up?

No output at all on the TV. Not even a slight flash

If possible try another hdmi cable and maybe in a different hdmi port on your tv.

No its set up for hdmi.

I went to swap the HDMI cable to another port and found it was loose in the socket. I pushed it in and the picture came up

But why the hell did it work for spark every time and not for Enigma with the cable loose!!! Could it be signal strength ? or HDMI protocol being more demanding in one or other of the images ?

Well at least your sorted now. You'll probably need to rescan the saorview channels if your not near kippure and run autoboquets again as the image is a few months old and some channels have moved, when it asks say yes to a nit scan.
