I agree - but i30s for traffic (for me) raises wider questions about how exactly they see traffic.

I often wonder - how the Uk roads policing model would work over here IF YOU HAD THE PROPER TRAINING AND RESOURCES - and decent cars.

Are i30s even good enough for the regular now that i think about it - youd think a regular car would need to be something like a Mondeo 2.0 TDCI 140 ps - not a 1.6 diesel Hyundai.

Hope VAG start getting more enthusiasm about getting involved with tenders as they have something to suit most requirements - i should think

i30s are not good for the regular at all. Terrible car tbh.

i'v seen a few of them and all look in great nick. Great unmarked cars not many people would spot them.

I heard on good authority that this is happening. Two 2012 V70's, formerly leased by a UK police force, and a 2013 V70 ex demo model. One was posted here a few weeks ago out around Lucan. Apparently they're being kitted out atm.

That's the RSU regional support unit which is station around the country providing armed outside DMR

The 3 Vitos in those pictures are crew buses. Notice are all glass windows and grab bar for very back seat.

They are other Vitos out there that have equipment in the back. They have metal on the very back back sides. Used by APs.

I was driving down near Islandbridge in Dublin the other day, saw a army Ford Transit and also, two army Jeeps towing rigid boats with blue flashing lights on them (the boats that is). Any ideas what these are used for?

Wishing those two lads a speedy recovery, hopefully no long term injuries as a consequence of this crash. No one deserves to go home from work injured.

See the Coast Guard got a 141-D Pajero. Once the Army got a load of them Mitsubishi seem to have tried to push the Pajero around all the services. As they're an old design maybe they're better value than the new Land Cruisers.

Tourists are lethal this time of year, hundreds of them every week rent and drive cars on the left for the first time and their 'natural reflexes' can lead them into an accident . I had a narrow miss myself on a back road when a German tourist in a rental came around a bend on the wrong side early in the morning, and his 'natural reflex' was to swerve MORE right 'out of danger'. Lucky for him my reaction was to just avoid him rather than swerve left as a lot would do.

Isn't there a few different "grades" of landcruiser,?. there's the luxury automatic jobs , and a boxy looking utility one probably not the best for motorway cruising but better for rough stuff..

Back around 05 Toyota did a no-frills version , narrow wheels / arches / manual windows ...... but then 'the tiger' came and basic didn't cut it when we had all that money to spend

If you're in the UK or especially Australia you can get the basic LC's but over here it's only Bling and extra bling models.

Why is the V8 diesel LC €145k here ?(nearly 3 times the Aussie price ) - because Toyota know they can get the Irish to pay that much ( Marketing 101 :rolleyes: )
