I've gone ahead and picked a quick team to get this started:

Krul - 4.5
Mannone - 4.5

9 mil spent

Debuchy - 5.5
Baines - 7.0
Shaw - 6.0
Dunne - 4.5
O'Brien - 4.5

27.5 mil spent

Fabregas - 9 mil
Walcott - 9 mil
Sanchez - 10.5 mil
Odemwingie - 6.5
Shelvey -5.5

40.5 mil spent

Dzeko - 8.5
Bony - 8.5
Jelavic - 6.0

23 mil spent. That's a decent stab for a first team IMO. Players are underpriced compared to other seasons IMO.

Is Davies 100% to start?
It'd be a good move if so.

Personally I'm happy to (have to) have 2 4m defenders on the bench.
I'll be spending the next few days trying to find the best 2 out there. I've been hovering around Moore, Bruce, Hutton....
However, I've also been thinking of Silva -> Nasri and that 0.5 might be worth investing.
Maybe you could keep Debuchy, do that City switch and a 0.5 upgrade.

With Roja and possibly Danny Blind on the way my feeling is that Utds defence is way to unpredictable and may take some time to gel to be reliable for clean sheets.

I think I'm gonna leave them a few weeks and maybe go Chambers or Davies (Spurs) for now.

Cheers, I'm quite happy with Costa, can see him doing very well myself and seems to have fitted in nicely in the preseason.
I'm going to wait on Sanchez, he'll be in my team no doubt but he hasn't had the same time to settle in I prefer Ramsey at 1.5 less.
Would love to have Giroud up there but not over Costa or Rooney. Arsenal's CL qualifier early doors is putting me off a bit too, can see Sanogo getting some of Girouds gametime around the qualifier.

I can't tear it apart too much as we've got the same front 7

I've managed to squeeze Terry in at the back but it's at the expense of De Gea. I'll be throwing a 5.5m United defender in there to cover that.
I'm also taking a short term punt on Chambers.

Mine:

Very weak front line. Lambert not guaranteed to start. Doubts over Dzeko also. No Chelsea attackers, and on paper have a better start then Arsenal.

Yeh, he was 7 at least. I'm still not sure about it myself, I originally had Koschielny but he was a doubt, I may yet transfer him in after a few weeks. I always find it easy enough to pick a defence so I'm not too worried about having to move it around, I'm happy enough to splash out on Baines and Coleman knowing I can spread the rest around some solid defenders who will at least start (Dunne will start won't he? Isn't he captain?). I am worried that if I drop Baines I'll be tempted to fiddle with my midfield.

I like the look of your team by the way. I'm not sure why but when looking at Baines I just couldn't justify the price. Ihope it ddoesn't come back to bite me. If you were to go with someone a little cheaper you could strengthen the bench too. Spanner in the works as I genuinely like the look of that team minus Baines (what was he 7.5?)

If one of your starting players doesn't play your first sub will be put on in his place and his points will be added on. If he doesn't play then your second sub will be put in and so on. Similarly if somehow 2 of your players don't play your first subs will be put on. If a player plays and somehow manages to get 0 pts or minus pts he aint subbed.

So sub order and having a decent bench is kind of important and so you should aways have attacking players top of your sub list. As I mentioned earlier you're only allowed play a minimum of three defenders; so if you look at my team if Coleman doesn't play Dunne will be subbed in for him even though Nolan is my first sub. The reason I have Nolan as my first sub is because if Rooney doesn't play I don't want Dunne coming on for him instead of Nolan.

So an amazing first XI with an mediocre bench can be risky depending on how much you actually follow the game.

Could someone inform me of exactly how the subs work? I assume if for any reason one player doesn't start the first sub starts in his place? I just don'tget it? does anything happen if one of your team is subbed?

Focusing on the starting XI with a fairly weak bench? A tactic that hasn't really worked for me in the past partly down to my own indecision but also just because you're focusing on the big names. On paper you midield is a cracker although I would have a my doubts about Fabregas. I haven't been keeping an eye on their preseason, know he got a good goal this week but wouldn't be sure about him starting consistently. If it were me I'd drop one of those big names and strengthen the defence/bench. Don't know what to say about Bojan as I don't know much about him. I'm sure someone else will be able to give better advice.

A little tip, make Wanyama your first sub. The game doesn't let you play less than 3 defenders so if one your starting defenders doesn't start it will automatically sub in a defender. With your setup though a defender will be subbed in for all positions.

Also the only player I know from the promoted teams is Wes Morgan for Leicester and he was a top class defender in for Forest in Fifa 08

Ditch Mangala, won't play many games early on. Lovren too although I could see Rodgers going Lovren-Sakho. Pretty strong other than that

The sooner the season starts the better as I have once again tinkered with my team... Now I've gone for more of a balance throughout the team wheras before I had more power in the middle and upfront. And I'm still not sure if its the best side. Not doubt it'll be Changed again. Might also have too many new signings.

Right, I actually don't know how I feel about this team at this stage.
My wildcard will be used early (will prob do it for the international break... Holding onto it longer is something I struggle... Oh look there's a bird) so I've favoured some picks that may not be season keepers, more of a short term view as a result.
If by some means, I hold onto the WC, I think a few transfers can get me out of trouble.
Silva is causing a headache, the "short term" approach as mentioned above should see me putting Eriksen in there but for some reason I'm struggling to make that move.
Subs are poor but will be trying to ensure 2/3 at least are solid starters.
Evans may be switched to Smalling after Fridays press conference.
