While they shouldn't be overtaking on a white line, I'm not really sure why such a long, straight ish stretch, without turns, needs a continuous white line.

Whatever about the first overtake - that second one is reckless - I'd report that in case the person driving was the person the L plates were on display for. Unacceptable stuff imo

It's probably not very clear but with the undulations on the road it probably is a necessity. Also there's an entrance to a business on t one of the dips

There are private entrances and junctions with minor roads on that stretch of road.

I agree with this sentiment, an example of inappropriate markings, the road doesn't need such a long continuous white line, it should have the newer longer broken white lines, they're called warning lines.

100% agree, after the entrance to the business yard on the right it seems unnecessary to have the line still there.

Sorry I hope you are not being serious.

The solid line goes the whole way up there, the broken line is for cars turning right going the opposite direction. And although the editing of your video seems to try and suggest otherwise, there is someone walking on the road in the other lane from what I can make out what ye done was dangerous weather you want to admit it or not.

Technical points

1 The broken line is to facilitate the vehicles turning at the box junction, that's why it becomes a solid line immediately afterwards as well.

2 Are the breaks in the vids, camera induced or edited in?

Mmmm, the person is walking towards the Naas Road & not towards me & why are they on the road when there is a Path a meter to there right?

As for the Solid white line & broken line there is nothing in the ROTR about the use of broken white line for the purpose you mention?

Just to clarify that white lines should not be in a yellow box per the ROTR, as they are in this case I took them as usable which allowed me to overtake.

2. Video jumped for some reason, the Dash Cam I got is only cheap, I got it just to see if it's worth investing properly in.

You approach a T Junction, the road you wish to turn right onto has a solid white line in the center, can you legaly turn right across the solid white line?

An example such as the white lines on Pinnock Hill in Swords if you were exiting the B&B
