I've gone ahead and picked a quick team to get this started:

9 mil spent

Debuchy - 5.5
Baines - 7.0

O'Brien - 4.5

27.5 mil spent

Fabregas - 9 mil
Walcott - 9 mil
Sanchez - 10.5 mil
Odemwingie - 6.5

40.5 mil spent

Dzeko - 8.5
Bony - 8.5
Jelavic - 6.0

23 mil spent. That's a decent stab for a first team IMO. Players are underpriced compared to other seasons IMO.

That's why I'm likely to start off with a bit of a punt on Pelle, especially now Remy off the table. Soldado may be one to watch in that bracket too.

Why are so many people going for Sigurdsson. His scores over the last three years are fairly poor.

He did well in his first spell at Swansea after arriving in January of that season and he hardly got a look in at Spurs. When he's on form he's a great player to have in your team and a bargain at 6m I feel.

He was excellent at swansea only there for the last 15 or so games 3 seasons ago. He wasnt a regular at spurs but think I read somewhere he had a goal every 300 odd minutes at spurs its just he didnt play regularly.

Agreed. If Sigurdsson gets anything near 3000 minutes he could rack up a lot of points.

So far Pochettino has played Lamella the hole behind the strikers in both friendlies, where we seem to be assuming Erikson will play. While not yet tempted to go for Lamella it does possibly make Eriksen see less of a must have!

That's interesting. How have Erikson and Lamella got on in pre-season?

It could very well be something like the below according to a Spurs fan I work with. He reckons Lamella and Erikson will swap and change back and fourth as the game goes on.

I'm getting close to my final team - think I just need to play around with the defence a bit more. Will likely play 4-3-3 for GW1, doubling up on the always solid Chelsea. I'm not sold on Siggy yet but if he nails down a starting spot he's a steal at £6m. Gives a more balanced team too with a decent option from the bench. I would have liked to have Shaw in the team but its hard to avoid the De Gea/Mata/Rooney combo. I'll flip between 4-3-3 and 3-4-3 for the first few weeks, hopefully without having to use my WC! Siggy has two juicy fixtures in GW2 + GW3, hopefully this will be a taste of whats to come from him this season. Having him as a rotating 4th mid will free up a lot of cash. I've spent £35 million on my back 7, so will be looking for some clean sheets to start the season!

Struggling to decide between the following 3 cheaper mid options

1. Arnie, De Jong, Ward Prowse

or

2. Sigurdsson, Eriksen/Lamela, Albrighton

Any opinions? Option 2 seems slightly better but I dont like the weakening of my bench to get it...

Latest draught. definitely feel like I'm getting close to my final selection. Good cover from all the top teams in Midfield/Forward. Slight concern over Pellé & my defence however! Serious budget backline :rolleyes: Obviosly big question marks over whether Wisdom will even be a regular starter same goes for Mariappa and Targett (who i have only put in due to seeing his name thrown about the forum a few times now)

I'll be playing 3-4-3 most weeks though so not overly concerned once the subs are all regular starters.

Could save 1mil to spend elsewhere transferring Sturridge out For Rooney which seems the Popular choice around here but With Mata in Midfield I feel like im Ok for Utd cover now and as I have said in previous posts I want to have someone from the attacking options from Liverpool in my team. Judging by most of the teams on here having Sturridge or any Liverpool option could be a nice differential early on too!

Anyone any thoughts?

As much as I rate him, I wouldn't have Sturridge near my team. And as much as I would love to have both Pelle and Tadic, I want to see more of them before bringing them in. Your team is pretty weak imo - Williamson up against City, Siggy up against United, no Rooney/RVP... you only have one defender worth anything and that's the untested Luis. Paying £11.5m for Sturridge when Rooney is on offer for £10.5m is madness!

I wouldn't agree that it's a weak team overall. The midfield is fairly solid, Sigurdsson could still pop up with a goal/assist. Utd were leaking plenty of goals last season. No Rooney or RVP scares me a bit but RVP might not even be fit for GW1 and with Mata in Midfield I'm happy to take a punt on a Liverpool player up front! Sturridge more then held his own at the start of last season with no Suarez. I do agree with you re my defence though, GW1 would be a disaster if De Gea and Luis don't keep clean sheets.

I'm sure by the time the season kicks off my team will probably have been changed a further 500 times though ha!:rolleyes:

I had in him initially but, at the moment, am veering towards a stronger midfield and dropping him. I feel he's maybe 0.5 overpriced - though, again, 30.4% of team managers is hard to argue with.

25% of managers have Tim Howard. 28% have Barkley. I wouldn't put too much faith in the masses! Sturridge is far too over priced, he should be about £9.5m. Some people just want certain players regardless of the cost.

How can you say the second highest scoring striker of last season should be £9.5m come on like. I agree he may be overpriced but a drop of 1mil putting him on par with Rooney cost wise (£10.5m) seems more appropriate. 3mil cheaper then RVP who spent most of last season sidelined would be a joke.

Have to take into account a lot of Fpl players are from England and are most certainly biased towards their players. Imo there is no way Shaw should be the most selected defender or Barkley the 2nd most selected midfielder but because they happen to be English they're.

Oh incase anyone is wondering about 500k have signed up for Fpl so far.

I'd get rooney in for dzeko and downgrade pelle to one of the 6 million lads and Luis to Enrique or Davies. I'd keep sturridge he has scored goals consistently for 18 months with or without suarez in the team. If sturridge gets a couple pre season teams around here will start to get him in. Very few teams had rooney until he scored a couple against galaxy. I think you have to go with your gut instinct it's very easy to be sucked into a template team which inevitably develops on the likes of here and ffs. Most teams are utd defender, chelsea defender ,debuchy, ramsey or sanchez, hazard or fab, rooney it used to be Rvp.

I really rate Sturridge, but he's not an £11.5m player in the game. I don't think RVP is worth £12.5m either btw, but I might still have him due to United's fixtures. Rooney looks really attractive based on his pre-season form and price. If he stays in a more attacking role I would definitely expect him to outscore Sturridge over the first two months. I miscalculated above, I meant to say he should be £10.5m, but to be honest I'm not 100% sure I would have him in my team at £10m.

Either way I think you need to take a good look at your defence!

People are picking Rooney because it's clear now that he will play up front.
