23 mil spent. That's a decent stab for a first team IMO. Players are underpriced compared to other seasons IMO.

I'd agree with that, but moreso because I rate de Jong highly after his performances last 2 seasons.

Had forgot about him. I don't think Sanchez is a huge risk given he's a 35 mil player so I'd see no problem taking the chance on De Jong.

Very good team for me Pauly. The only changes I'd like are perhaps Shaw as a United defender rather than De Gea. I can see Shaw doing well getting forward and perhaps picking up bonus. I'd consider Shaw more attacking than Evra and Evra has done well at United the past couple of seasons for attacking points.

I'd have no problem with the two 4 mil defenders. I never like having too many options in defence. Leads to those weeks where you are frustrated by leaving points on the bench. Terry, for example, is almost unbenchable because Chelsea could get a clean sheet against anyone.

My one other problem is 3-5-2. I'm a 3-4-3 man. Do you think would Fletcher be worth the risk at 5.5 as a Sunderland supporter?

Good solid team though and you have kept the risk to a minimum with Sanchez being the only new addition to the League. You already have 6/7 of my starting 11 in there and I can see our teams being similar come the start of the season if you stick with that.

Ha, we were thinking along similar lines late last night. I was out but coming home hearing the Man U result had me taking 352 seriously for the first time. This is what I came up with.

For now it's in the hope of Vermaelen to United which still seems a runner. If they don't sign him, then I might have to sacrifice Hazard. Agree fully with your comments on the defence, that's the teams I'd build around ideally but am sacrificing Debuchy as my Arsenal cover in favour of Chelsea, United and Spurs with three rotating for one spot. Villa and WBA rotate well and hopefully Targett comes through as Saints are still feasible for rotation defenders.

My motivation was that Mata will be hard to leave out if his preseason form keeps up and this formation continues to give him his dream role. I had De Jong in my 4 man midfield originally but had decided Sigurdson was a must given the Swans start and the price, so I've had to give him up, otherwise my 4 man midfield was the same as yours bar De Jong, and I've added Mata to be the 5th big mid.

Up front is probably light in my team, but might work. I had Dzeko/Bent in for a while and looking at your team that's probably stronger. Other option would be downgrading Hazard to Fabregas which I'm not totally averse to, and either upping the defence or going Rooney/Dzeko/6m Striker.

Good to explore this and it might work give Sanchez could be effectively a third forward.

have downgraded hazard to allow remy- dzeko and albrighton to sig
have bent myself has scored in pre season and villa in bad need of a hero.
Also wisdom is a definite for me

Yeah I was thinking of Mata so maybe Mata for Sanchez and Giroud for Bony and upgrade defence.

Very good team, pretty similar to mine at the moment. If you wanted to improve on your defence a little, you could downgrade Sanchez to Ramsey who could get off to a flyer as he wasn't involved in the World Cup. Also having 2 Swansea players is probably too much so I would say change Bony to another good striker, Giroud for example.

It's just a mock team, but what do you guys reckon?

GK: Manchester United have a fantastic start and I think it's imperative to have some sort of defensive coverage from them. De Gea and Shaw are their only guaranteed starters at the minute.

DF: I've wrote a bit on Terry and Debuchy in my previous teams, both play for sides who should be there or thereabouts at the top of the clean sheet list at the end of the season, though I would expect Arsenal to regress from the 17 they kept last year. The new BP system should suit Debuchy. Spurs have one of the best starts of anyone in the league, they paid double figures for Davies to fill a problem spot for them, their new gaffer should tighten them up a bit and again, the BP system looks like favouring FB's.

MF: Sanchez a risk as he's expensive and new to the league but a superb converter of chances and he should get plenty. He may even end up playing a bit as the main forward. More of a striker than a midfielder in any case. Hazard is Hazard, consistent from a FPL perspective as his hauls over the last two years show. Eriksen and De Jong should have their respective sides built around them and both take set pieces, Siguardsson also takes set pieces, will play off the main striker similar to De Jong and has a relatively nice start. He and De Jong are bargains at £6m and £7m respectively IMO.

ST: You can't read too much into pre-season but Rooney looks sharp and van Gaal has said he's playing with 2 central strikers. With their start, you need some sort of Manchester United attacking coverage. Dzeko should get a leading role at the start what with Aguero's World Cup and injury niggles. City scored a mountain of goals last year no matter who they played against so despite a relatively difficult start I'm happy to have a striker of there's who will/should start at that price.

Bench: GK - meh, De Gea will play every week when fit. DF - it'll be two £4.0m defenders who look like seeing game time. ST - no £5m will be a regular but Bent looks most likely to see game time at the beginning. It can be re-evaluated after a few weeks as I usually look to the wildcard on that first international break or soon after anyway which usually causes a dramatic shift in my team.

Overall Well, what started as a bit of a mess around I've come to like quite a bit. The main reason for going experimenting with 5 in midfield is that I just don't trust any of the £6.0m strikers all that much. For example, it could be Wickham or Fletcher up front for Sunderland. I'm far from convinced on Jelavic or Long at Hull. Austin, Ideye, Ulloa and Ings have never kicked a ball at this level. I think all 5 of those midfielders should have significant and prominent roles for their sides this season. Plenty of set pieces and playing close to the striker too.

GKs: Subscribing to the idea of keeping it cheap as possible with reserve keeper. Went with Elliot as I have heard from Newcastle supporting mate that they would be happy enough to listen for offers for Krul and use Eliiot as no 1.

Def: Really gone against spending big on defences. I've got Luis who I think will be regular at Chelsea and will be the most solid defensive team. Davies seems good value assuming he starts at Spurs. The rest are interchangeable and I will have to look at which teams rotate well etc. I'm happy having a palace def in there though. Wisdom could be one of the bargains. Don't know much about Targett, to be honest. As a Villa fan, I dont get the Vlaar love in. He starts every week when fit, but has been plagued with injuries, not to mention how many we concede.

Mid: Not much to say here, except I think the starting 4 will be the main men for their respective teams. Sanchez as a MF with Arsenal's current strikers and Walcott out at the start looks like he could catch fire immediately.

For: Very confident RVP will bounce back this year under LVG (as will Man U) especially with no Europe. I'm too scared not to put in Remy as he always scores by the dozen when I do. I seem to be the only one to have considered Bent. At 5m he could be a steal. Villa are going to be shocking this year, but it looks like we will be starting off with Bent up front and if he plays there is a good chance he will score.

In sum, I'm gambling on a few big players delivering, of which a couple are going to let me down. But I figure go with them from the start, then downgrade to the ones who start on fire, rather than try to pick them from the pack based on no current form.

Worried I may be far too bare in defense.

Reasoning behind is to try to structure myself to have one of the biggest point scorers from each City, Chelsea, Arsenal, United, Spurs, Pool (provided Remy signs) & siggy in my team!

Fancied Aguero/RVP but god knows how their seasons will start! Too uncertain for the price tag imo.. (at the moment) I reallyyy think one of the Spurs strikers is going to be on fire... just must wait for preseason friendlies to see! Some midfield behind, with Pochettino in charge too! Adebayor/Soldado could be bargains, happy with Eriksen for now though!

Right yeah. Bbc reckons Jenkinson will go out on loan. Biggest point of this transfer may be that Debuchy might be liable for more rotation.

Yeah, was thinking Luis could wait if I WC early. With Lallana out Remy might be worth a shot for 3 weeks. One to monitor in pre season anyway.

Have to say I think at season start he is guaranteed start, his form at season end is why city won the league. And with aguero misfiring and looking very leggy and tired think early on will be the pace setter before he fades away

Aguero doesn't seem to be able to kick a ball out of his way at the minute... Dzeko got 16 goals and 8 assists last year finishing the season very strongly, hard to see him not being very important to their early season but Charity Shield should tell all....
