I've gone ahead and picked a quick team to get this started:

Krul - 4.5
Mannone - 4.5

9 mil spent

Debuchy - 5.5
Baines - 7.0
Shaw - 6.0
Dunne - 4.5
O'Brien - 4.5

27.5 mil spent

Fabregas - 9 mil
Walcott - 9 mil
Sanchez - 10.5 mil
Odemwingie - 6.5
Shelvey -5.5

40.5 mil spent

Dzeko - 8.5
Bony - 8.5
Jelavic - 6.0

23 mil spent. That's a decent stab for a first team IMO. Players are underpriced compared to other seasons IMO.

A very noticeable increase in the number of teams with rooney in them today

Any thoughts on this. It's my second main draft so far.

Downgraded the midfield (Silva, Mata out for Shelvey and Albrighton) and upgraded the strike force (Rooney, Dzeko in for Wickham and Weimann).

Would mainly play 3-4-3 with Taylor and Cameron rotating as appropriate at the back. (Same with the keepers obviously).

Would like to have Shaw instead of Rafael though (especially if the 5-3-2/3-4-1-2 comes to pass).

Here's my 1st draft (more like 20th

). Any thoughts? Ignore the subs and Diakite, they're place holders for the time being.

Edit: if Rafael starts in the RWB position I will swap him for Shaw, and possibly replace Barkley with Eriksen

I've tried, fairly unsuccessfully, to stop messing with my team so ridiculously early. Last nights friendly just shows how pointless all this tinkering really is till closer to GW1. One United friendly and LVG interview and it's back to the drawing board!!

I started tinkering with my team to see how it'd look with Rooney in for RVP and 2.0 in extra cash to play with. It's now some time later, I've got a headache, I'm pretty sure it looks worse and I'm way more confused than when I started. Reminds me a little of Father Ted and the dent in the car :pac:

Given, Albrighton, Bruce, Luna.

Sterling is overpriced and wont get his game week in. Siggy is gone back to Swansea and looks a better should. As does Arnie for Stoke or Tadic for Southampton. Even De Jong at Newcastle once you look past their opening fixture they have a nice run. Rest of the team is solid.

I don't get the love for Vlaar here is the reality.

He was fantastic in the world cup with a team that was solid at the back.

He is going back to Villa beside poor defenders who are set up poorly and will leak goals. I can't see him scoring very high.

Also will Long even be first choice i am not so sure.

Sanchez and Dzeko looks better to me but i'm really trying to squeeze Costa in to my team too and its proving difficult. I think ill have to drop a Chelsea mid (Hazard/Fabregas undecided which one i want more) and settle for Sigurdsson.

And playing 1 team is way to boring for me .

Only having one team makes you think more, you only have one chance. You become obsessive over your transfers. If there is a choice of four players you have to pick one, REALLY pick one. Not put one in each of your teams and declare yourself a genius when one comes off. Having the balls to punt on a player and it coming off is the thing that I respect the most around here.

It is not boring to have one team. It is the reason that we come here to chat and debate and become attached to our choices. Having more than one team gives you scope to cheat on those choices and the other players. You can post whatever rule you want but in the end you are only cheating on your own enjoyment of the game.

I would suggest that you try having one team and doing it properly and I guarantee you will enjoy it more than having four teams.

No, the rule is that while any amount of people from your household/organisation can enter, each individual user (you) can only have one team.

Any breach of that would definitely see you disqualified from the FSA competitions I'm involved in, had you been an entrant.

After that 7-0 drubbing, I think I might take a punt on Rooney. Van Gaal could do excellent things with this Utd squad.

I'm now at the point where I'm second-guessing my second-guessing and have no idea who's actually gonna make it into my week one XI. Think I'm gonna stop tinkering and just make changes the day before.

My honest opinion is playing more than one team is a waste of time and completely takes away from the fun of the whole thing.

De Gea is the most obvious choice keeper I've ever seen in this game.

With United playing 3-4-3, Shaw will bomb forward as a wing back. Rooney at 10.5 is a steal if he plays up front with RVP and Mata in the pocket behind.

Leave out United players at your own peril, imo. De Gea is a great shout too.

Looking at the fixtures, you might be right. He'll have to face a decent amount of shots behind that defence anyway.

De Gea is definitely a better option to start the season with than Howard IMO.

I think he'll be an assist machine. He consistently set up goals his entire time at Barca and he has played more through balls in the Premier League than any other player over the past 5 years, despite having spent 3 of them playing in Spain.

I understand where your coming from though, I generally don't like paying much for 'new' players but I reckon Fabregas will fork out.
