While I am partial to the odd Mojito myself my favourite is an Amaretto Sour but since developing a nut allergy I can't have them any more. I also love pina colada but since developing a coconut allergy I can't have them either.

I used to make a really nice Amaretto with cherry juice cocktail. Dam I miss Amaretto.

One of my other favourites is one I make myself with Passoa (passion fruit liqueur), Pisang (Banana liqueur), Malibu and orange juice.

God I love cocktails!

Nah, going by how much more quickly they get me drunk, they're at least 1 1/2s if not doubles. They get you drunk quicker. More alcohol. No doubt some places like to rip people off, but avoid them. It's not the norm.

At least all the scrap I've ever been given in bars and clubs. If I had something from a decent place who knew what they were doing I wouldn't care to try one or too, but they couldn't be sweet.

Cheap and available lemons and limes courtesy of the supermarket wars is great.
Mint grows like mad. Two/One sugar syrup insert {bourbon} {gin} {white rum} with lots of ice.

It's awesome. I've had it a few ways but so far my favorite is half and half gin and roses lime cordial, squeeze of half a lime, shaken, not over ice.

Where I work and almost every actual cocktail bar I know of, you will get 50 ml of liquor for most cocktails with certain ones sometimes having more. The Reason they are more expensive here is because almost everything is more expensive here.... And people are going to pay for it anyway.

For anyone saying their favourite cocktail is a strawberry daiquiri is their favourite cocktail.. It's not, don't kid yourself, there is no taste of alcohol off of it. You like how it looks : pac:

My own favourite, depends on the situation. At home relaxing, a White Russian, in a bar I know will make me a great one, an old fashioned or a Tom Collins.

Personally don't like mojitos. I do love a fresh daiquiri but hold the fookin strawberrys. And a margarita can be good with 100% agave! but the vast majority of what you get here will fookin suck. Cuervo or olmeca in a margarita makes me sad.... Also. Hold the salt.... I don't even understand why it would be used.

everything is more expensive in Ireland. But i don't think real cocktails are.

Places like the capitol or anywhere that serves cocktails for around 5 euro are not really cocktails. They're just 1 standard shot of alcohol and some juice.
Real cocktails bars such as VCC, Harrys etc. have larger measures and use real ingredients(e.g. real limes for lime juice). Depending on where you go and what you get they're anywhere between 8-12 euro each. Again depending on what you get the alcohol would equal between 1.5-2 shots (2 shots would cost around 10 euro on average in most bars)

I've been to many extremely great cocktails bars in Paris, London, NYC, Germany etc. and the prices are about the same as in Ireland.
I must say, it's only in Ireland that they measure the alcohol measures so carefully. Any other country i've been to, they measure by eye or count. So i'll give you that!

White russian: Vodka, kaluha, baileys and milk over ice. I know the baileys is not customary but makes it so much more delish.

A paloma is also a refreshing treat: tequila, grapefruit juice and a little sugar syrup, topped with soda water over ice.

On the topic of cocktails in irish bars, if it costs under a tenner, it's not a cocktail unfortunately.

I think a Tia Maria and milk is also known as White Russian, a black with coke.

Another one I like is Mexican Sunrise, Vodka or gin, grenadine and preferably freshly squeezed orange juice.

A Tia maria and milk is nothing like a White Russian. No vodka, no Russian.

Best after dinner drink for me right now is the Espresso Martini. Holy christ they are amazing!

Mmm. Mojitos. Love them but they need to be the real deal- none of this Smirnoff Mojito ****e you get in some pubs. No, I like the ones with real mint leaves, lime juice and Havana Club rum. Very refreshing on a hot evening out in the beer garden.
Sadly, since I'm on certain medications, I don't really do cocktails anymore- the after effects outweigh the enjoyment to be honest.
Still, on rare occasions I enjoy the odd one or two.
I like mojitos, Cosmopolitans, White Russians (The Dude abides!) and Brandy Alexanders. A well made apple Martini is also a good bet.

I like to mix my mojitos up a little. I love them made with Morgan Spice or using red bull instead of soda water too. I call them dirty mojitos. Nom nom nom.

Probably sex on the beach, I'm so original. But then again I haven't tried an awful lot!

Was browsing the menu in Portugal on holidays last month and the barman suggested a mojito. I said yes. It was the most awful and disgusting thing I've ever tasted. 3 sips in and I could feel myself about to throw up. The smell will forever haunt me.

There's kind of a sweetness to whiskey sours but they're not too bad. I dislike sweet drinks and I think they're good. And would you not have yourself a nice dirty martini so? Yummmm

The Princess Bride

Have sampled many, many cocktails all over the world, but the most amazing experience ever was in Cloud 23 in Manchester with one of my bestest friends, many moons ago.

I had the Old Thom Henry’s Cherry Effervescent.
A cherry punch made with Goslings dark rum and Amaretto, carbonated and served over lemon and mint sorbet.

Expensive, but life is for living and I regret nothing.
