The Israelis withdrew from Gaza in 2005 and then the Hamas rocket fire began.

How can they have their own state when a prerequisite to negotiations would be for Israel to stop all ILLEGAL settlements and Israel continue to authorise illegal settlements and land grab palestinian territory,this basically says to the palestinians,come and negotiate but meanwhile we will take your land and you can do nothing about it.

Also,how can they prosper if they are trapped by land ,air and sea and cannot have the basic necessities to start a business and import/export??

Unrelenting Palestinian terrorism has eroded any patience or sympathy they might still have had among Israelis.

Anyway the territory was historically Jewish and part of Ancient Israel. The Arabs came as conquerors in the 7th century.

If a two-state solution is not possible then the solution would be for Arab nations to take in the remainder of the Palestinians and allow the Israelis to use the natural barrier of the Jordan valley as their bulwark against any future attempts by Arabs to invade Israel.

Why should Israel open their border with a territory that is attacking them?

The Gazans have Egypt next door to trade with. Maybe they could spend their money on goods rather than weapons like the rockets they are firing at Israel?
