I use it, it's abit watery compared to clic. However it seems to work alright, the big thing is only has a withdrawal period of about 6 days

Used it this week too.
Store said ectofly gun is better & just change bottle ( same ste up as auto drencher)

I used it this year due to the shorter withdrawal period. I think it was 8 days compared to 50 days. However cover is also shorter so you might have to do the smallest ones twice over summer depending on weather.

I use it also. Used to use dysectin (nasty stuff) a lot cheaper than click but exactly 6 week cover. The Olde blowfly is sitting on the fence watching the calender and licking kid lips. The cover timing is fairly accurate

Seen lambs getting maggots last year after 4 weeks with ectofly, used clik zen this year on lambs away from home for piece of mind, a lot are close to sale

Not being smart, but even at €190 a pop it's some money. I know the product works, but For a product that's around for a while I cannt understand why generic versions aren't readily available at a fraction of the price. Are the raw ingredients that go into the product really that expensive to make ?

Bought ecofly for 125 does 90 lambs.

Just bought Ectofly, 5L, 120 euros. I find that I tend to use too much. It's hard to cover the lamb with one 30ml sweep. End up sometimes using nearly 100ml.

I use cypergaurd dip mixed in the quad sprayer here . general get up to 3 weeks of cover with just a quick spray on each lamb.It has a14 day withdrawal so everytime in drafting lambs I give ones return in to the field spray going out threw the race.1 liter bottle does me the year

Used veterzin and click before and found the good but pricy

yikes that gets expensive......set your gun to quarter the dose apply in 4 sweeps one each side of the tail, two down the back

I do a 15ml stripe down each side, it worked that way last year anyway,
use clik on lambs under 36kg and ectofly on lambs over 36kg
Clik is 75c a lamb and ectofly is over 60c. clik gives over twice the cover

The other thing with ectofly is it can be used post attack. I treated a lamb this evening that had fly strike across her back. I clipped the wool and applied ectofly. The maggots dropped off within about 30 seconds on spraying lamb . I also find blue spray very good as well for treating struck areas. Almacyn spray is what I use.

The damage done by even mild fly-strike shouldn't be under-estimated. In the abattoir it's easy to see.

The area under the skin is thickened, red and swollen. It requires trimming that usually devalues the carcase and can be quite extensive.

In extreme cases where the area involved is expansive, secondary infection can lead to septicaemia and failure of the carcase to bleed out properly.
It is them totally condemned.

Yep always use the correct applicator. Not dear and well worth to apply correctly.

Anyone know of a product to treat flystrike that comes in a small spray can? Would be handy so I dont have to bring all the gear to treat a small patch on one sheep.

Not specifically for flystrike, but I carry a tin of blue alamycn spray with me. Covers and helps heal the wound and the maggots don't like it, it seems to kill them. I tried cyclo spray as well but found it not to be as good.

Yes, I was in a far field yesterday and had a ewe turned over who was a bit lame. Trimmed her feet and gave her some of the alamycn blue spray. I noticed she had a cut on her chest with some flies on it. Should have given her a spray while I had it in my hand. I'll see how she is next week.

Now that I think about it, her claws were sharp and the cut was in the place where they have their front legs bent in under sometimes.

Is it just me or is this year particularly bad for maggots. They seem to have struck earlier then normal and are more widespread. I've a lowland set up.
Anybody else finding this ?

It is a very warm humid summer so it's ideal for them. Only got one ewe with maggots before shearing. Sheared now so nice and clean. Lambs all done with ecofly. Works well. Don't have the time to be getting them in for maggots so well worth the money.

was buying Ectofly yesterday, and noticed an aerosol product for flystrike. Didn't take much notice cause was fixated on the other stuff, but will have a look tomorrow if you like.
This weekend was mental for fly strike here even 4 ewes had a patch just on their back above their shoulder blades, sheared 2 weeks, all sprayed now so some relief for them
