Here I am, lovely day outside. Stuck in a queue. In the social welfare office. Its signing day. There are very loud people in the signing queue being fairly loud. Laughing about being on the dole means never working again. They're topless.

And totally off topic, the ol' Almera is (almost) gone. I've a deposit on something nice and it's ready and waiting. The problem is getting the money out of the bank (damn 30 day notice accounts!)

I was thinking of changing and visited a local main dealer Saturday. Spotted a machine, drove and got a price, phoned some mechanic friends to get the bad points, phoned the insurance yesterday to see how much extra (not much). Pondered overnight and then rang this morning and put deposit down over the phone.

Knowing my luck the Almera will die/implode/crash/turn into antimatter in the next three weeks......

Probably a 90 bhp one too rather than the 105bhp 1.6 tdi because cheaper. Infairness the 1.6tdi is grand until you want to overtake something even 80-90kmh foot to the floor and it just can't pull quick enough even forth is not much better. Everytime my mother goes to overtake something half way through it she's like 'I'm getting rid of this car just too slow' she's only every really had 2.0l 140bhp plus stuff before it.

Osram nightbreakers give great light probably the best road legal halogen on the market. Dipped light would be h7 on a 407 head lights/ high beam h1. So micksgarage would have nightbreakers in h7 about 20 euro a pair.

Should be a handy enough change over provided it was just standard xenon bulbs the previous owner fitted. If he fitted an xenon kit and started fcuking around with wires and adding ballast and all the sh!t you could be in trouble. But chances are it was just a bulb he fitted. You'll know by looking at it. If the wiring/ bulb holders look standard you should be ok.

ABS, DSC, Traction Control, and Handbrake warning lights all come on at once. And stay on solid.
Third time that's happened in two months, with no common factor.

This is where the NASA method comes in.

I've got warnings telling me I've got failures on two, possibly three safety critical systems. In the rain.
I have no real idea what's causing them because it seems to be random.
But the last few times it's happened, there's been no obvious negative effect.
A normal deviation for an 8 year old car, so.

Did it happen in the rain before?

Sounds like it could be a sensor getting affected by the weather. Have you checked the wiring for any wear on the wires or connections?

It's possible it's a loose sensor cable. The other times it's happened have been in the dry.

It's also possible it was the front left tyre being deflated to 5psi for some reason - it never even looked flat, and I only checked it for unrelated reasons. Probably enough to cause just enough of a sustained difference in rotation to cause the system to burp and get confused from time to time.

Are your brake lights working?

All the systems take a signal from the brake light switch so it it's not working often cars think everything has a problem

Found out that a euro 3 and euro 2 pedal box dont interchange....

Cue cursing and an hour to change it. Thats with no dash or engine either.... Imagine the mess it would be if one had to change the box with everything still there!!! :eek:

On the plus, the car is now wired up inside, all 4 doors wired and the earths, I hope I'll have it finished tomorrow

So how long will this mess take to finish and get on the road....

Just bought a car from a dealer last friday. Said they'd change the ownership online and that I will be able to tax it at the start of this week. Finally gotten around to it just wondering can I do it online first time around or do I need to go to the motor tax office?

I think you have to go in the first time, after that you can do it online
