Milk Price- Please read Mod note in post #1

Recently we saw three posters close their accounts over disagreements in the dairy threads. While there is a lot of frustration and discontent with current milk prices and the processing industry, the recent tendency for dairy threads to become tit-for-tat arguments isn’t tolerable for those not involved.

All farming sectors go through difficult periods and during such times there may need to be changes in how threads are moderated.

Dairy threads are going to be more closely monitored and subject to stricter moderation for a while.

To that end we won’t tolerate baiting of posters, constantly reviving old arguments, posters with agendas or crusading for a cause.

Whether it’s discussion of the business or politics of the dairy or other sectors, we expect civility and tolerance toward each other and other opinions as diversity of opinion is needed as a source of different ways of looking at a situation.

Also please be aware that what you may post as light-hearted banter can be read totally differently by someone adversely affected by the subject matter and evoke a reaction you hadn’t intended.

The ‘Off-Season’ forum, and its anonymous posting, is available for anyone to chat about their situation.

I was wondering would it be a help if we posted our milk prices. I would hope that if someone is low that help could be given, on the other hand if high perhaps your tips could help us all.

I would suggest posting your processors base inc Vat for comparison
Post your Nett price for others to help or be helped
I think that solids should be included.
I suggest any seasonal/liquid contract price be excluded or seperated.

I feel that we as farmers do a lot of bitching about processor prices and rightly so IMO. I also feel that we should not worry about it as we can do nothing about base price but we certainly do something about it at farm level.

What do you all think?

This is an EU "directive" that is supposed to make payments "faster" and "better"

It's a load of boll1x. I changed banks a few months ago, and before the bank would change all direct debits and standing orders for you. Now you have to contact everyone that's dding from your account and get them to send out a sepa dd mandate form. And it gets better, once the mandate is returned the bank charge 4.50 per mandate to setup.
Another EU directive that's working well!! What's the story with the EU that they love to bury everything in inefficient ineffective bureaucracy.

Yeah looks like when they had that *error* last month ,some bright spark has set the payments for the 19th...
The direct payment literature guarantees dp for the 19th.
Its just that in practice its came in on the 18th.

Now heres the rub..SEPA has been in since february.So someone recently has made a DELIBERATE change...

Do many of you get a trading bonus at the end of year if your co- op has a merchant branch. And is it factored into the price if your milk.

My wife thinks your wife is high maintenance (she actually used choicer language). She does the wages where she works. Any fcuker rings her at six in the morning about wages better come to work loaded for bear.

Bought cattle off a man that is fairly well in the loop and he reckons that things will hang tough the way they are for next 2/3 months anyway

i suppose we can look back now and say we survived it, wouldnt want another one though. The other thing was the big difference in liquid and manufacturing price

Spare a thought for beef men €4/kg=23c/litre. At least ours was collected and paid for.

I'd reckon cattle would want to be close to €9/kg to match milk at the minute
