It's TV uplink top cover for TdeF bikes and helis. There was a similar thing going on for the Giro when it was in Ireland a few weeks ago.

Couple of flights going round at the moment in DUB.

    AFR870T & RYR225 both on 2nd approach.

I was actually just outside Dardistown when I seen that RYR just pulling up.
    Was pretty low before aborting.

I just noticed that 2 of EI's 3 A321's are just passing over Cornwall now and are inbound to Dublin.

Does this happen often they are almost next to one another i originally detected them over The Bay Of Biscay.

Anyone hear about the race on the runway at SNN the other night lol?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,321 ✭✭✭Foggy43

Yes! It was a Bank of Ireland sponsored 5k run. It took place at 11pm Friday night. The runway was part of the course. Keith Wood the rugby player was one of the celebrities there. Same thing happens at LHR once a year usually between midnight and 4am. Covers both runways. A charity event.

Eastern Airways SAAB 2000 heading for Donegal today, currently flying west parallel to the north coast

Seems to be positioning-in. Sub for Loganair?

    Cessna E-530 over southern England:

Can't find anything on this model other than a rather blurry pic here:

Anybody know anything more about this type of Cessna?

Could be an oil charter either; there's been days when there's been three Eastern planes on the ground along with Logan.

There is a thread about it here:

The Cessna C-530 originated from Chalgrove Airfield, which is leased by the MoD to Martin Baker - my best guess is this must some prototype undergoing testing.

That's the prototype Cessna Scorpion light-attack aircraft! I was jsut reading about that at the weekend...

    http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/NNum_Results.aspx?NNumbertxt=531TA

Did you manage to track it back to an origin?

    Thanks!

Apparently it was last spotted in Keflavik as part of its Atlantic crossing. The Scorpion was only unveiled last October, it's a pretty big airframe about the size of a Hawk.

Perhaps there is some specialist testing that Boscombe will provide.

Thanks! I notice that the Donegal airport website has photos of Eastern SAABs mixed-in with the Loganair, but blithely disregards any mention of them in the text.

50-55kt is very slow for a plane isn't it? I also thought they needed to go faster to stay in the air! :)

Same company that was contracted for relay cover of the Giro in NI, though that time they used their King Air 90 F-GHUV which operated 18,000 to 25,000 ft, much higher than that Islander.

Seem to be specialized in that niche.

FR24 is calculating that from the apparent lateral displacement, rather than the actual airspeed in each orbit ( since it's an MLAT plot instead of ADS-B report ).

FR24 isn't always accurate. As it's circling, the speed calculations could be off.

This also seems to be doing some TdeF coverage as well

Yeah good point, but there are two other circling aircraft which consistently show higher speeds than this one.

Actually there seems to be 3: ASR1711 is another one at 23,000ft.
