Cannot connect to PSN (error CE-33987-0)

Picked up a new router the other day but now I can't access the PSN. Has anyone come across this one before? Nothing of use coming up in any of the searches unfortunately. Internet connection is okay but that's it.

This is still wrecking my head. Must have spent a couple of hours over the past two days trying to figure it out. Surely not the only person to get this error? I'm with eircom and have the D1000 router.

I use one of these in my mates house, just make sure the router PW is lowercase exactly as on the back, it should just auto connect then?

I haven't got the ports forwarded on it though, tried it a few times and just gave up....

Or even hit the WPS button, it should just connect either way!

It's coming up successful for both the Obtaining IP Address and Internet Connection tests, but failing on the PSN Sign-In.

PSN is fine, was just on it, did you try this :

Another thing to try is a re- initialise the PS4, and make sure your profile is set as Primary Ps4....

Tried the cable but still getting the failed error when testing the connection.

Does re-initialising the PS4 delete everything? Obviously would prefer not to have to do that.

Did you try and reinitialize it?

If you cant I'd try downloading the system software onto USB and try reinstalling it, I did it a month or so after I got my new HD, had to reinstall all my games and updates but it should hopefully bring it back from the dead!

Your saved games are on the Sony servers if you are a PS+ member.

This is usually caused by your device getting an bad dns setting, in your router, what dns is been showing for the PS4?

Putting the PS4 device IP into the DMZ may help you also, see http://broadbandsupport.eircom.net/download/zyxel/eircom_D1000.pdf

This issue is your router and not your PS4, don't reset.

So your DNS is actually your routers IP

Change your DHCP settings so it gets a public DNS like say googles open DNS 8.8.8.8 or Eircoms DNS servers instead of your routers default IP.

I went to set up a new connection on the PS4 and manually entered the DNS settings:

Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4

and now I'm just getting a NW-31456-9 error when I try to sign in to the PSN.

Try it without the secondary.

What NAT type is showing by the way?

Is the router firewall on, what level?

Have you port forwarded the PSN ports?

You have to sign in directly to the Psn login under the PSN emblem. I don't know what that looks like on the PS4 .

it's under NAT..like below.

Ports needed to be opened are listed by sony below.

If that still doesn't work, you will also see DMZ in that picture, you can add a device IP, say the PS4 ip is 192.168.1.29, you can add it to the DMZ which removes all blocking from that Device and bypasses the router completely.

So I've done the following but not sure if 100% correct:

Didn't work when trying to sign in to PSN. Went in to DMZ and changed the IP address to 192.168.1.6 (the address I see when I go to the PS4s 'View Connection Status') but that didn't work either.
