Beasty came into assist convert in effectively modding this forum.
It's not your own personal playground where anything goes, all forums have rules and these need to actually be enforced .

Where are you getting all this. Please stop exaggerating. Your supposed to be a mod, you know, the level headed one that should be setting the example and all....

This tread is being used by some users to pick arguments with mods this is in no way helpful.
Mistakes have been made and it's time to move on and forget what has gone on in the past few weeks and try get this forum going again.

I agree, posts like that should be removed (if they were put up in the first place), but I've seen innocuous posts that have been removed for no reason at all, other than they didn't tally with the mods' way of thinking.

Ok, what are the problems in the forum?

From Mods perspective:

Adult style posting where 13 yo kids are supposed to be able to look at.
People posting the wrong thing in the wrong forum/thread at the wrong time
(I don't know what else, you tell us)

From various users to varying degrees perspective:

Mods interpreting the requirements of the users incorrectly
Mods handing out bans and infractions liberally
Valued users leaving the forum due
"Tips" thread moderation
The way that cmods or admins or whatever came in over the top of the forums best mod

Someone fill in the gaps cause the thread is going around in circles of people blaming each other.

I wouldn't say they weren't civil. I'd say it was robust debate. We're all adults, and people don't like being talked down to. I saw one or two dissenting posts which didn't seem to contravene any rules, yet they were immediately removed. As I said, perhaps there isn't much point to a Feedback thread if the mods don't particularly like the sort of feedback that's being fed back to them?

It's occurred to me that it's a tremendously bad sign that it was necessary.
If it was just me, you might have had a point; but so far, it's the regular mod, several category mods and an admin, all of whom have been looking after lots of forums for lots of years without having to do this kind of thing very often, if at all.

At some stage, you're going to have to ask if maybe the problem might be those five or six posters. This'd go a lot faster if for the sake of argument, in private, you just -- purely for fits and giggles -- took a look at the forum from that viewpoint to see what we're saying. You don't have to agree, you don't have to post about it. Just look.

Colonel Sanders gave his reasons for leaving. I personally think his post should have stayed up. Also, I see The Curragh advertising their Irish Derby meeting in the horse racing forum. There won't be much point in them continuing their advertising account with Boards if there's nobody posting anymore. Presumably their advertising revenue offsets the hosting bill?

Actually whats the policy for reporting suspected banned users reregs? I reported a user a few months ago whos post matched a notorious trouble maker on this forum. I was then told by a mod in a PM that they had no proof so couldn't actually deal with it.

So you have looked at a few OTT posts and tarred everyone in here with the same brush. The vast majority of posters in this forum are respectful and post within the set down rules.

In fairness you are stirring it more than being helpful.

We have lost some of the best most respectful and knowledgeable posters over the last week. Urban/Aidan to name but two. These are the guys that brought most people to the forum with their brilliant knowledge and insight.

If we loose any more people to bans or walk offs this forum will be beyond repair and will descend into some of the mindless stuff we have seen in the tips thread.

Please try and be constructive and help to SAVE this forum because its on the point of collapse.
