I'd say its due to XB1 getting content for each game earlier than PS4. From watching E3 this year it was clear that Microsoft had successfully negotiated early access to in-game content while Sony with their tail between their legs got the breadcrumbs, access to Alphas and Betas instead. I think F2P games and PSN+ combined will put a dent in the PS4 software sales. The most played game on PS4/PSN at the moment is War Thunder. It's great for gamers but I question the viability of adding more F2P games and really good PSN+ titles from Sony's perspective.
Neither Microsoft nor Sony has revealed the latest exact numbers on their respective devices. In April, Sony announced its PlayStation 4, which launched Nov. 15 in North America, was at 7 million units sold. As of March 31, Microsoft had sold 3 million Xbox One consoles.
PlayStation 4 was the best-selling console in North America for the month of May, which marks the fifth consecutive month it's achieved the plaudit. Sony's new console also managed to move more titles than any other platform, in a month that saw sales of both consoles and games shoot up.

I'm curious to see how it does once restocked and with the release of Freedom Wars in Japan as apparently that's been gaining some massive hype over there.

Granted its not very popular here but I like a really good conversion. Just sharing my thoughts regarding Sony's E3 strategy of securing all these Alpha and Betas for PS4 games that were announced. It kind of became the 2013 TV TV TV. I thought it was weak. Basically turning Sony gamers into game testers and pawning it off like they are doing you a favour. I thought Microsoft got a lot of the early access to content for some multiplatform games while Sony went after mostly the betas and got a few bonuses here and there. My F2P and PSN+ theory is that you can create and build a gaming audience that expects so much for free that It may become difficult to motivate them to buy games when they are released at premium rates. As I was saying the most played game on the PS4 PSN is War Thunder. Its just a theory. Regarding software sales recently I cant find hard data on the breakdown of multiplatform titles. If someone finds the numbers/percentage break downs please post it. Many games articles point to a source on Neogaf that has broken down some of the sales stats for May such as.Wolfenstein: The New Order platform breakdown: 41% PlayStation 4, 38% Xbox One, 13% Xbox 360, 8% PlayStation 3Watch Dogs: sold over 1.25 million copies in the US last month. It breaks down to a 46 percent share on the PlayStation 4, 29 percent share on the Xbox One, 14 percent share on the Xbox 360, and 11 percent share on the PlayStation 3.Now the PS4 sales are better but ask yourself this. Shouldn't the sales be an awful lot better with the millions of additional PS4 units that have been sold compared to XB1.

Also any neutral people I know who have got both the Xbox One and PS4 say the Xbox One is so much better than the PS4 and they hardly ever use it. Although that could all change if PS got a decent exclusive which has yet to happen.
