Milk Price- Please read Mod note in post #1

Recently we saw three posters close their accounts over disagreements in the dairy threads. While there is a lot of frustration and discontent with current milk prices and the processing industry, the recent tendency for dairy threads to become tit-for-tat arguments isn’t tolerable for those not involved.

All farming sectors go through difficult periods and during such times there may need to be changes in how threads are moderated.

Dairy threads are going to be more closely monitored and subject to stricter moderation for a while.

To that end we won’t tolerate baiting of posters, constantly reviving old arguments, posters with agendas or crusading for a cause.

Whether it’s discussion of the business or politics of the dairy or other sectors, we expect civility and tolerance toward each other and other opinions as diversity of opinion is needed as a source of different ways of looking at a situation.

Also please be aware that what you may post as light-hearted banter can be read totally differently by someone adversely affected by the subject matter and evoke a reaction you hadn’t intended.

The ‘Off-Season’ forum, and its anonymous posting, is available for anyone to chat about their situation.

I was wondering would it be a help if we posted our milk prices. I would hope that if someone is low that help could be given, on the other hand if high perhaps your tips could help us all.

I would suggest posting your processors base inc Vat for comparison
Post your Nett price for others to help or be helped
I think that solids should be included.
I suggest any seasonal/liquid contract price be excluded or seperated.

I feel that we as farmers do a lot of bitching about processor prices and rightly so IMO. I also feel that we should not worry about it as we can do nothing about base price but we certainly do something about it at farm level.

What do you all think?

What were ther base prices before. Thought with quota going and contracts to be signed now they would mot have went the full two cent but it was only wish ful thinking on my behalf because they are dying for milk

was looking at may milk statement there, bulk tank maintenance came off twice in it, 280 &281 and also 280 came off in april milk statement ,is that right? Dont remember it being that last year

Look up last years April,May and June statement,see what it was and then ring the servicer to see what it should be.
Then ring Ballyragget who are in charge of milk cheque deductions.
Double charging sometimes happens.

FFS. Almost €70m profit last year plus the revolving fund. You'd think for shame sake they'd hold the price for May anyway.

Plus another .5 cent share up, neither of which is tax allowable, so if on high rate of tax is in effect 2 cent. The revolving fund is returned in seven years free of tax then with an annual accruing interest rate of 3 month Euribor+ 2.5, which is subsided as no farmer can borrow at that rate. The share will only always be worth a €, even though it in effect it cost two euro, but usually gets 1.25% dividend so declines in value by inflation minus 1.25%.

There's a new banking payment system in place now making a mess of everything. Wife used to be paid at 12 midnight in the morning of payday, now it can be anything up towards 12 midday on payday. Banks are not taking responsibility for slow payments pointing back to the employers, who have paid in the monies at the usual time same as before.:mad:

My wife gave out stick to someone in her wages dept there a couple of weeks ago at 6 in the morning when she woke and found out her wages weren't gone through . I felt sorry for whoever was on the end of the phone ! Not sure was it the bank or her workplace actually .
If I get paid within a couple of weeks from when I'm told I'm usually happy enough !
