I distinctly remember our history teacher at school boasting that his father had set this hellhole up. Unbeknownst to him and us one of my classmates had been born there, along with two siblings, in the mid to late eighties. That person and their mother had some different stories to tell about the place.

I asked my mother about it and she remembered his father from her Irish College days. She remembered him as a glory seeking w*nker. She wasn't surprised that he was involved.
