Obviously not. Many in there have said the cyclist had a death wish taking the line he did.

Many of the cyclists in there also rightly say that it's people like him that give us all a bad name.

if i was the cyclist i would have slowed down at the start instead of trying to force my way through the closing gap. that way the bus could have gotten ahead to where it was going and the cyclist could have negotiated it without having to risk injury.

maybe the bus shouldn't have been encroaching into the cycle lane. life isn't perfect, i can't imagine it's easy negotiating something with a rigid body 50 or so feet long through the crowded city. there's a rule at sea that smaller more manoeuvrable craft must make way for larger, more difficult to manoeuvre craft, it's just common sense really. same should apply in traffic.

it would have been much easier for the cyclist to make that situation right than the bus driver.

Summed it up for me. Plenty of normal cyclists about but sadly always one dick actively looking for trouble or any excuse to have a row. Same with driving, pedestrians etc

Wonder why the bus went into the lane, was there an obstruction, he didn't do it to the other 2 infront... Guess we'll never know

yeah I read up now on that thread in cycling forum, didn't know the guy that filmed that has quite a history of risky cycling and trying to act as victim.

Totally avoidable situation. Both come across as aholes tbh.

Bus driver had no reason to veer into the lane, but the cyclist shouldn't have forced the issue and just backed off.

Considering the amount of cyclists killed by large vehicles on the quays down through the years, the bus driver - as a professional - should not stray into what is a very busy stretch for cyclists.

Also asshole cyclist with camera is asshole.... nothing new here.

Undertaking by the cyclist. Then he cycles out in front of the bus. Don't see how the bus driver was a dick. He was just passing on very sound advice to an idiot.

I think he veered into the cycle lane to avoid the cyclist in the middle of the road!

It looks like he veers into the cycle lane with the intention to get closer to the footpath for the bus stop that he stops at (he closes the door on the bus before pulling off, too).

It looks like it's clear he's taking that route (despite no indicator visible in the video), and the cyclist forced his was up inside the bus, when he could as easily have hung back?

If the cyclist were further up the inside of the bus, when the bust began to close in, I'd blame the bus driver. But that's not the case. I blame the cyclist. As said, fairly avoidable situation to get in to.

Bus driver shouldn't have gone left into the cycling lane. No idea why he did.

Cyclist was a mouthy idiot though. He could have avoided the incident very easily.

Only watched it the once, but the thing that stood out for me was the craziness of the cyclist.

So there is a closing gap in front of me, and instead of hitting the brakes and falling back, he speeds up!

I read in the cycling forum thread that this cyclist has other videos where he is arguing with other road users, so perhaps he goes out of his way to get into rows with people?

Plus, the audio is very unclear, not 100% that the driver said what is being claimed. Maybe he said "I could have run you over" instead of "I will run you over". There's a massive difference.

Our Cities streets were not designed for big buses so you should always give these fellas - and truckers - leeway because its difficult to manoeuvre such large vehicles in those small streets. That clown should never have kept on cycling up the inside. He should have known better.

Cant be sure about that as we cant see what the driver can see at the other side of the Bus. At the start of of the clip there is another cyclist overtaking him despite it appearing to be only single lane traffice at that point.

I didn't think the bus Drive is threatening, more trying to be realistic telling the cyclist he could end up dead by being so wreckless.

I'm sure gardai etc are involved in this now and the cycylist hase been identified elsewhere too so I reckon both parties will have questions to answer.

That would be quite an ignorant rule to apply to traffic imo. Increasingly,infrastructure is being designed to give priority to peds, cyclists, public transport followed by other motorised traffic in descending order and that is the best philosophy for the modern age. Of course your last sentence is correct and it was within the cyclists ability to diffuse the situation at the very start which is what any sensible person would to but that should not be a general rule of traffic as you seem to suggest.

I would hate to be a bus driver in a busy city, you would really need your wits about you, and they must constantly fear seriously injuring or killing someone.

I think there are too many cyclists who are looking to be offended and willing to take silly risks to make a point on the road. This whole "I am entitled to use the road as much as you are" attitude will end up getting some of them killed due to them taking risks because they think they are allowed to.

It's become apparent that a camera on a helmet gives people a death wish. On fact, I had a dash cam and pulled a ridiculous move once (and got rightly owned on here for it)

But that is not what he typed is it. His statement was quite categorical in that smaller vehicles should give way to larger vehicles. I have no problem with showing courtesy to any other road user but it is a two way street (pardon the pun).

I find it hilarious that if a cyclist wears a camera he is looking for trouble but dash cams are not only acceptable but almost endorsed by every one in this forum.
