Hi I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, I'm doing in trinity starting in September, and I was wondering if anyone wanted to sell me their books. Or even anyone who knows where the best place to get the books is.

You don't need to buy any books. All the stuff you need will be given to you in your lectures, and failing that there is a library full them for further reading if you so desire.

If you buy books, I doubt you'll even open them once.

I'm in SF, last year we had to get a pack of two books worth €90 which covers all maths modules up to the end of SF. It also included a Wiley Plus code so you can access assignments and the electronic version of the book online. I didn't buy books last year except for that, I just got PDF versions from the internet. This year I bought a few though, but these are only ones for the area I'm specialising in. Just get the books you have to buy and use the library for the rest.

Hi guys, thanks for the responses,
Good to know that the book aren't all absolutely necessary, all the same if anyone is selling some of them i'd be interested in getting some of them. i've always preferred learning from the books than from notes.

@earwax_man: what are the names of the maths books you have to get? Can you get the wiley code separately if you get the books second hand?

Also are the books always available in the library when you need them?

I have a whole bunch of engineering books from a few years ago. I'll put up a list if you're interested.

As for the library, there's a section of books that you can take out on loan. So there might be 10 or 20 books for a large class. However there is also a "behind the counter" section of very popular books. These cannot be taken out of the library so people usually look at them for a couple of hours and then put them back, so they're easier to get hold of. Also, try to get a look at the books at the start of or during the year as opposed to coming up to exam time when the library gets much busier.

Advanced engineering mathematics. Kreyszig. 8th ed.
Elementary linear algebra. Anton Rorres. 7th ed.
Chemistry: molecules, matter and change. Jones Atkins. 4th ed.
Chemistry & chemical reactivity. Kotz Treichel Weaver. 6th ed.
University physics. Young Freedman. 9th ed.

They are around 10 years old at this stage, so you might want to look up whether or not much has changed in the later editions.
