Then realized that I know the place and have passed it 47million times before and never bothered going there for a pint, or never bothered even thinking "jaysus I might pop in there for a pint some day". It might as well have been a lamp post. I have no opinion on the place though. Why does everybody hate it so much? And why do people love that it has closed down? Was it the worst place in Cork or what?

The draw of the next new pub, the same customers, just moving their monies else where. there is no money in pubs at the moment. people are fighting tooth and nail for business. look at how desolate coburg strreet has gotten. branigans and o keefes gone. branigans especially should be thriving, with liverpool doing so well.

The lease holder had it running well had just spent a bit doing the place up( new bar new tvs new sound system) but the owner of the Building fell behind with the bank and the bank decided the lease was too cheap (3 storey building) but the top 2 floors were falling down and un useable. When they tried too increase the rent the lease holder refused too pay. And now nearly 2 years later it is still idle I did hear recently that a few people were looking into leasen it

Plenty of suburban bars closing and bars just outside the city center proper, but I'd never be too surprised by that, there aren't many destination bars outside of the island of the city. From the top of my head the only ones worth going to are Bierhaus, Franciscan Well, Gallaghers, Abbots Ale, Sin e, Charlies, Fionn Barra's and Sober Lane. I may have left out a few, but no other bars offer anything spectacular that makes them the bar to go to. Incidentally, Deep South, where Door 51 and Henrys used to be, is gonna blow everywhere else in the city out of the water if we have a summer like last year. Their Beer Garden is nothing short of spectacular and I don't think they are even done fixing it up.
