AIB online problems.CHECK YOUR ACCOUNT

If you are an AIB account holder and use online banking go through your account with a fine tooth comb.
A payment I made 2 weeks ago was replicated without my knowledge and put me into an unauthorised overdraft.
Called Customer Service and they couldnt explain it.
Went in to my branch and the explanation I got was simply stunning.
AIB:'We dont know what happened and the money is in the account where you sent it'
Me:' I didnt send the payment twice and its not where I sent it'
AIB:'Well it must be in between in the 'ether' in between' :eek::eek::eek::eek:
I walked straight out and went up to PTSB and opened an account there.
I got onto my wages and told them to hold my wages until I get a new account

Now my wife has checked her account and something very similar has happened.

They havent a fooking clue what is going on.

Its called Shadow transactions. Happened to me a couple of times and AIB feigned ignorance both times. Screen shot your account as they will try telling you it never happened. They will also say its not their fault/problem.

On the bright side it will only take abt 10 working days to get it back (if you're lucky).

I got my money back much quicker the second time as I was wise to them plus they allowed my account to go to unauthorised overdraft to the tune of €500.

Most people got refunded, I'm surprised (well not that surprised) that the customer service didn't know what had happened.

I'm with AIB and find them grand. No issues at all.

AIB are complete and utter c*nts. I'd keep my money under the mattress before I'd have anything to with with them again... Staff are rude and incompetent beyond belief.

I went into my branch during the week reading the riot act as there was a direct debit set up out of my account without my knowledge. Then the girl behind the desk (a saint I tell ya for putting up with me) advised me it was my car insurance company. They changed their debit description after SEPA came in. Anyway there was a lot of tail between legs going out the door so I hope I don't have ye're problems or I'll have to hire an actor to go in on my behalf.

Yeah, they registered a bad debt against me over a credit card bill that I was struggling to make the payments on. Agreed not to bring me to court if I paid €100 every month until the debt was cleared. If anyone is in a similar situation, it's not as bad as you think. A bad debt will automatically drop off your credit report 5 years from the date it was registered which in my case was last year. Learned a good life lesson from the whole thing and will never get a credit card again. Maxed it out within about 6 months and spent 6 years paying it off. Incidentally, I was in the same situation with BOI and MBNA and neither of them registered a bad debt against me. :cool:

A while ago, AIB charged all account holders twice for any payments made on a particular date. I noticed it on my account a few days later but they had already refunded me. It was in the news, from what I remember.

I was paying my bills this afternoon (online banking) and looking through recent transaction I noticed some money credited to my account. Further investigation - I was charged twice for some transaction a few days ago, and this seems to have been a refund. I was wondering about this, and now I have my answer...

What dates were people charged twice? Just looking through mine now and noticed I was charged twice for what looks like a chicken fillet roll, just want to make sure just in case I was hanging that day and decided one roll wasn't enough!

I don't feel like logging in to check the exact date, but it was some 2 to 3 weeks ago. The refund went through some 5 days later.

Well I am viewing it as a security breach as they gave me no credible explanation for taking money from my account.
In fact the first person I spoke to in customer service admitted they didnt know what was going on.
My wife has checked her account and found that BoI had to refund her account (AIB) as she withdrew money form a BoI ATM and BoI took it twice.

Banking works very much off the idea of scheduled batch jobs.

What most likely has happened here is someone accidentally ended up running the same batch job twice and every transaction inside it was repeated. (I've seen bigger banks make the same kind of mistake)

It is very much a pain in the hole when this happens.

PTSB! Best move I ever made. Nice staff, no charges and available balance always up to date. No more mortification in the local shop when you card has just been declined even though you checked your account online two minutes previously.

Looks like I was charged twice for something at the end of February, but the second transaction was refunded a few days later.

It was only ~20 euro so didn't notice at the time - a direct debit rather than using my card.
