probably because ddr4 is around the corner. I was thinking the same. The ram I have has gone up in price since I bought it too. Good thing I bought 32 gigs when I did, rather than buying 16 with the plan to expand

In Sapphire Trixx or MSI Afterburner. I think Asus have a tool for changing GPU settings? Called Asus Tweak I believe. Probably best to use that first.

Are you running an overclock on the card?

Ya it sucks the VRMs get hot. But I do know Asus' fans get really good airflow, you are probably running in Quiet Mode, Performance Mode knocks a nice chunk off the temperatures.

You can also set your own fan curves I believe. Performance Mode runs the fan as high as 50%, whereas Quiet Mode only 40% I believe.

Do you use msi afterburner or sapphire trixx? Both of those programs have the ability in the settings to set your fan speeds to the temperature of your card using graphs.

The cooler on that is one of the poorest designed 290(x) coolers. The cooler itself is decent, but Asus just lifted the design directly off the 780 and put it on the 290(x) with no modifications at all, so there is no direct contact of the main heatsink to the vrm sinks.

Its an Asus Dc2. Im yet to transfer build over to h440, maybe that could help with heat a bit? 3 intake at front no drive bay clutter

It is. What model 290 do you have? Are you running the fan high? Good airflow can help a lot with the VRMs. Replacing the thermal paste can help a lot too with reference model coolers.

I have heard that games like Bioshock that run at high fps can make the VRMS quite hot. Maybe limiting the FPS might help?

116c definitely isn't ideal.

Managed to wrangle a HardwareVerSand man on the phone.
If you are returning an item in the 6 months after the order, they pay for the return.
Outside of that it's on you.

I know this because An Post want €40 to return my PSU. Not sure it's worth it.

Lads I was wondering if any of you might have a 1150/1155 stock cooler you aren't using, my board won't allow for me to use the h220 so I'd probably be selling that too if anyone is interested. I'd obviously cover postage plus a few bucks your way, I made a mistake in ordering the tray CPU.
