Anyway, not a bargain. €2k or even less can buy much much better car. My first car was a 96' Megavan...God what a ball of crap that thing was....junk only. For the most part the Frenchies should stick to making wine I reckon, bar a few models. Hell they've probably even lost ground to new world wines these times:)

Ah its not a personal attack on my part man. I'm sure you'll appreciate that people would imagine its yours or a family members car when it was your first post and the car doesn't particularly represent good value. I'm not a fan of them and think most on here would tend to agree with me. It is clean looking and low mileage but I reckon €2k of your hard earned can buy you a much better car

Them Primera 1.8s are a brilliant car though, handle well, peppy enough and they never break. That's one I'd buy, cept I already have a diesel one for smoking around in.

When you get down to this kind of money - I don't think the fact that one is a 01 and the other a 03 makes a huge amount of difference.

Neither imo does the fact that the Primera has 66 k on the clock and the Mazda has 145 k.

Its all about the individual cars really

What are the seats like in those Primeras, Stravos?

I had an Almera of the same vintage up until last year. Would they be good and firm like those seats or are they softer?

Mine are a bit crap tbh.

The fact it has endured close to 270k miles of Irish tarmac probably doesn't help. That or the fact I am 15 stone of boney-arsed bogger. Happily, I have a spares primera that the kids lost the keys to - I shall carry out a seat transplant, a week or two after never. Great cars them Primeras though. Very tough.

As I drive a 04 Almera with 161k miles I agree with you, I'd rather a clean solid car at that price range, although sadly in Ireland, way too much emphasis is put on the year. I know a girl who refused a couple of gorgeous cars because she wanted to go up a few years, then bought an Alfa that broke her heart.

There was 150 and 170hp versions, that has satnav which pretty much makes it a 170

At the same time Toyota were getting 165BHP out of a 1.6 and Honda were doing even better AFAIK:)

They do sound good but a 1.8T really is more practical and tunable.
