No it isn't, it's about 1.4 tonne

Dunno where people get this. A very well known and respected English motoring journo wrote in an article recently that a base Porsche 911 weighs 1 and 3/4 tonnes. Very far off he was too

Indeed and it does have a DPF - last attended to in early 2013.

I got the impression it was 2 tonne from the technical data in the handbook - "Gross Vehicle Weight 2,020 KG". From your comment, I am now thinking that this refers to a car full of adults and their luggage. "Kerb weight" is down as 1,596 KG, and "payload" as 424 KG, so this was my error, thanks.

It just feels so much sturdier on the road, compared to the Primera (Kerb weight 1,245 KG). Only very minor problems so far with it. The (notional) lack of legroom in the rear behind tall front-seat occupants. And the interior boot-closing handle is on the near (wrong) side, as is the handbrake. But the clever windscreen wipers are universal to both LHD and RHD.

Thanks for making me examine the weight issue more closely. Any more tips welcome

It's a 10 year old car now, was relatively cheap, also there has been an absolute sh1tload of diesel ones imported over the last few years which would drive down demand-price on the petrol models.. Good spec for low money.

Also, that one has a different alloy on the front passenger corner...
