Would I be nuts to arrange my Wedding for April next year? Is the weather too much of a gamble?

Opinions please

I'd be interested to know what month fellow Weddies picked and why, and how it worked out for you if you're already married..

I'm getting married in march this year I'm not too worried about the weather bcos your not guaranteed good weather at any time of year in ireland

Weather should have nothing to do with it unless you are getting married outdoors.

On the flipside, great weather can ruin weddings especially venues with natural daylight as half of your guests could end up outside having drinks and taking in the sunshine.

We got married in April, it was the hottest day of the year that year, so April weather isn't always that bad! We could have picked any month but just thought April would be nice, and gave us more choice for honeymoon destinations.

You have more options with venues as its not as popular as the summer months.

I got married in May-but in Spain so the weather was lovely:p

But what i've noticed the last couple of years that the last weekend of September always has lovely weather! So if I was to get married again (not planning on it) i'd pick around the end of September as it's also a lovely time of year to get married I think and the nice weather would be an added bonus.

we got married in April, it was really warming and sunny but tbh you could get married in July and have flooding and thunderstorms, as happened to my friend. it was especially bad for her, as they choose the location based on the gardens and photos opportunity!

Any day is a gamble in ireland

We're getting married in July - I'm doing my best to have absolutely no expectations about the weather as you never know one day to the next in this country.

Weather probably should not have any bearing on wedding date if you are getting married in Ireland as there is no way of knowing what it's going to be like.

January

I'm getting married on Dec 31st, it could be snowing/raining/freezing/hail... or any combination!

April should be fine

might be some April showers.

Got married this month and we got amazing weather. Bright blue skies and great light for our photos. We were delighted. It wasn't even that cold.

You could pick a day in July in this country and there could be torrential rain. You just never know. April could have fabulous weather.

We got married early winter. The morning was horrific, wet, windy, grey. From lunchtime until 5pm when dinner was called it was sunny and beautiful, and pretty warm, it looks like summer in our photos. You could get the exact same weather on a July day. I was at two weddings last March, absolutely freezing cold at both, didn't affect the day in the slightest. You won't care!

I got married in February, it was bright sunny and crisp, my best friend got married 3 months later in May, heaven's opened and continued all day.

You needn't be depending on the weather in this country, just go with it and enjoy!

You can't plan a good weather day in Ireland! We knew that, still we planned for a September wedding as I have lots of memories of going back to school and it being scorching weather

It was raining day before and day after. It was glorious and warm with drifting clouds on the day of the wedding.

We wanted good weather because we had the option of the wedding being outdoors. They didn't know how it was going to pan out until about 10.30am, when they decided to set-up the canopy and sound system outside. Most of the guests stayed outside in the sunshine after the ceremony, as did we after all the meet'n'greet's were done. Drinks were served just inside the door and people either milled in the hall/reception or outdoors. Seeing the lovely photos of everyone enjoying glorious weather still brings a smile to my face.

My advice would be to go with the time of year that suits and then pick a suitable venue. My sister got married in oct as it was the only time that suited their family, and had the wedding in a seaside town in a hotel who's major selling point was proximity to the beach. The morning was glorious so she got some lovely photos at the house & Church but the heavens opened on the way to the hotel and there wasn't a hope of getting photos on the beach.
We're getting married in march in an old castle with a big open fire so I'm almost hoping for bad weather!

So we've settled on March 28th 2015, the Priest has booked it in for us

We got married on the 30th November last year and the weather was perfect. Crisp but dry and the light was beautiful. A mate of mine got married in June or July last year and there were floods! It's Ireland so I don't think you're ever gonna know what to expect with the weather. So as others have said, unless you're planning something outside it doesn't really matter!
