Child dies in SWO elevator

A 3 year old became trapped in the elevator shaft at the Hynes Building on Augustine Street shortly after 3pm today.
He had been in the building with his mother who was attending the Social Welfare office on the first floor of the building.
The little boy was on his own when he became lodged in the lift shaft. It is understood that he suffered crush injuries which resulted in massive blood loss. http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/tragic-death-of-toddler-3-in-lift-shaft-accident-29912211.html

Tragic. Guess we'll have to wait for the coroner's report to find out what happened.

At least 30 years old. I remember visiting the library there in the mid-eighties. The social welfare office was still down in the Claddagh at that point but had moved up to the Hynes Building by the early nineties.
