Two contrasting one's:

Man Utd vs Bayern 1999. 90 minutes of frustration followed by two minutes that were like an out of body experience. I was pretty close to tears at the final whistle.

Sergio Aguero scoring that goal against QPR. Felt physically ill. Every time I thought about it I just felt hollow inside. Didn't go anywhere near any soccer related sites or anything on TV for about a week afterwards. I've still never watched it again to this day.

I was at the Stade De France for the Henry handball game... Always when an Irish side are beaten we take it on the chin despite the disappointment but the fact that we played so well that night and were just cheated out of a place in the Finals lead to a real sense of anger and frustration in the stadium that night that spilled out onto the metro and the Irish pubs . It was weird there was NO craic in Paris that night such a sense of deflation and sadness. In fairness to the French fans they were shocked and apologetic rather then anything.

Last time I was angry was when I broke my almost on its last legs remote against the wall when NZ came back from the dead to beat us in the Rugby back in the Autumn. I was so pissed off how we let them back into it and how they got a second shot at that kick to win the game. In the end I was absolutely delighted NZ won as we didn't deserve it with those decisions we made in the last few minutes real dickhead stupid amateur stuff.

99' when Utds utterly sh!te performance vs Munich in the Champions League final for 90mins and then that one moment changed it all for us. I was 5, I remember the game so clearly.

Cried a few times playing GAA when we got to the final as complete under dogs and lost by a point in the final play of the game.

Also, I'm a Tipperary fan so we've had out fair share of delight and disgust over the past few years.

always angry and disappointed when my teams lose but the only two that I were absolutely devastated were 1) Arsenal losing the 49 game unbeaten run at Old Trafford and 2) Champions league final defeat to Barca in 2006.

Tears.....not since I was a kid, although I did feel emotional watching Jack Nicklaus play the 18th at St. Andrews for the last time about 8 years ago.

Anger - every single Limerick FC game I've ever been at. Worst was probably away to Monaghan about 4 years ago, had a policeman instruct me to leave the scene.

But like somebody else commented earlier, I'm more of a silent devastation and numbness guy.

Was probably just youth, but even in all the matches I've played or watched in hurling/football/soccer/rugby I have never been as angry at anything as much as I was at that.

I remember that match but Ireland played before that match and the game was up and all they had to do was kick the ball out but kept on playing for more points and conceded a try. That I was angry about that as I knnew it could make us loose the 6N as it did as by you have said.

The only time I say I got emotional in sport was Clare's win in the 95 All Ireland and the coomback by Liverpool in the Champions League in 05.

99 champions league final. Inspiring stuff from possibly the best team ever put together in the top tier of English football. The football they played that year was unreal and when Solksjaer scored the winner, i got slightly emotional (in a manly way).

Cried once, when Alan McLoughlin scored for Ireland in Windsor Park in that WC qualifier in 1993. The hate the players experienced that night was unreal, and with Billy Bingham on the sideline whipping the crowd into a frenzy the atmosphere was poison.

Been angry lots of times, probably the worst was Arsenal's defeat to Man United to end the 49 game unbeaten run. We were kicked off the park, had to put up with one of the worst referreeing performances ever seen and to top it off Rooney took a dive in the penalty area and won a penalty. Its said that in football there are some matches that you just aren't meant to win and that unfortunately for us was one of them.

Losing the All Ireland in 2001, any defeat to Dublin or Kildare, the All Ireland semi in 07, the hand ball in 09 and the ABs match in November were the most awful stadium experiences I've had. Also the equaliser Austria got last year really annoyed me.
Watching on TV the last minute try for France in 07 was awful. Remember throwing random objects around my room in frustration.

I teared up when Ireland did the grand slam in the 2009 Six Nations. The relief that the final kick dropped short was overwhelming, and then the joy set in.

In 2009 I was incredibly angry at the performance of Dublin when Kerry completely outclassed them in the All Ireland Quarter Final. 1-24 to 1-07, I was sitting in the Davin Stand in section 318 and I'll never forget it, I nearly gave up on Dublin that day.

In 2010 I let a single tear go when Cork beat Dublin in the All Ireland semi finals That sounds so emo, but for the most part I was utterly crestfallen. I remember a big Cork fella spotting me on the way out, throwing a giant hand on my shoulder and saying "It's a tough one boi, but ye'll be there at the finish next year" in his west-Cork accent before nodding and heading on. I didn't want to hear it, but I was thankful for it all the same.

In 2011 I'd spent all Spring & Summer with the same people (season ticket holders) around me at every match and I literally burst into tears when Stephen Cluxton put over his free kick in the 2011 All Ireland football final. I don't remember the 1995 win, so for me it was my first time seeing Dublin win an All Ireland. I wasn't alone and it was beautiful moment.

In 2013 I was in the hill with my dad who missed the final in 2011. It was our first time together seeing an AI final and it ended with a Dublin victory, he was last at a final in 1983 with his own Dad. It was special, though I didn't tear up that time.

Why else would you watch sport if you're not going to get emotionally invested in it?

Cant say I ever have. I dont really take that much of an interest in sport, especially not enough to be emotionally invested in it anyway.

Most of the time I dont have a clue whats going on in the sporting world anyway. So I dont understand a lot of the references in this thread.

Even when he was on Graham Norton last Friday, I was peeved at him.
His legacy will always be as a cheater in my eyes. Having that on your reputation takes a LONG time to get rid.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær, the Champions League final in 1999 where United came from 1-0 down to win 2-1 in the dying minutes of extra time. Scored in the first and third minute of extra time after Bayern lead from the fifth minute. I was too young to cry for that, but I was cheering United on

I remember that year. I was up in the Cusack Stand when Cork beat Down by a point to win their first All-Ireland in 20 years. There was definitely a few tears of joy shed after the emotional rollercoaster we had over Cork football over those few years.

I also got a bit teary eyed when Katie Taylor beat Ochigava in the 2012 Olympics.
