2FM have just confirmed that a concert for Croke Park next Summer will be announced Monday morning at 11.45am.

They have tipped Garth Brooks!!

I love bruce, but he's played here like 12 times in the last five years. Garth hasn't in what, 15 years? Plus in the mid nineties he was HUGE over here. Those fans have to be somewhere, also he has developed an almost cult following among most people I know my age (25-30) so while I wouldn't be unhappy with Bruce, it has to be Garth, my heart can't take more disappointment.

Edit: plus if Ireland is the first stop on his first world tour in god knows how long, you're gonna get a LOT of foreign interest.

well he sold out 3 nights there before, so while he'll probably not sell out 1 night straight away, I'd imagine it will be pretty full come July or whenever the gig is.

Bruce sold 140,000 tickets for 5 shows last summer .Not one of them gigs were in Dublin.The amount of people that went to there first Bruce concert and were just blown away by the man is amazing.Springsteen is bigger now than he ever was in Ireland and IMHO he would have no problem filling Croker for two nights. the heart-stoppin’, pants-droppin’, earth-shockin’, hard-rockin’, booty-shakin’, earth-quakin’, love-makin’, Viagra-takin’, history-makin’, legendary E Street Band.:D

True , but then why did they not put him in Croke Park in 2012? I know a lot people probably went to their first Bruce gig last year but still he would not be able to sell out 2 80,000 gigs after being on tour for the last 2 years including 7 shows since 2012

Its not U2 as they're controlled by live nation/MCD with regards to their gigs.Aiken is the promoter but MCD have Croke Park gig rights.Logically its Mr Brooks as I said last July on another forum

Some people spend waaaaaaaay too much time trying to think up strange possibilities when the answer is obvious.

Just so you know, over on the Bruce boards and the Garth boards, they are going through all the same questions and guesses as to who or what group it could be. Again, when the answer is completely obvious and transparent.

Some guesses I've seen thrown out here and other places.....Bruce, U2, Prince, Robbie Williams, a Paul & Ringo reunion, Bon Jovi, Ronan Keating? I think the only name that hasn't been suggested is Michael Jackson. I can still visualize his "announcement."

Love him, hate him...I, having seen Garth many times, happen to love him. He puts on quite a show. His band is top notch, and like Bruce, he can play to a stadium of 80K, or a crowd of a few thousand. Though he's past his younger years, he's been theatric, known to fly on a wire across a stadium, of having fire explode around the stage during his song, Standing Outside The Fire.

While he is clearly a country first artist, and I'm not a huge country fan, although I do like the Dead, and they have country influences....he also has songs that cross over into other music genres. One song, The Fever, is kind of insane in concert, and the band and crowd are generally worked up into a frenzy by the time it's over. Other songs like The Dance, the song that he closes every main set with, is more emotional, and is basically his Thunder Road.

My guess is that he is going to announce 7 shows throughout Ireland. They will all sell out, maybe sooner than anyone thinks, but come July, they'll be packed like all of Bruce's shows were the past couple of summers. Like with Bruce, Aiken has a great relationship with Garth, he even flew out for Mr. Aiken's funeral a few years ago, and whether you hate his music or not, the promoter knows what they're doing, and the cities he will play know that they're going to get an influx of tourists, not only from other countries in Europe including the UK, but also from the U.S.

He'll also be touring off his first new album in over a decade, a lot of time to try and get it right, but 2/3 of the show will still be his old hits, which made him popular enough to sell out stadiums and arenas worldwide in the 90's. Last but not least, there's the fact he wrote a song called "Ireland," and he credits his love of and bond with the country for inspiring him to do so. 350K tickets sold, price for all seats will probably be under 35 Euro plus fees. With the way Garth has always capped his ticket price, the sellouts are a guarantee.

I can guarantee it wont be Bon Jovi ( only sold 45,000 tickets for slane) , Robbie Williams (Did pretty much sell out Aviva last year but not big enough to double that capacity this year) , Ronan Keating ( i hope everyone is taking the mickey ha). So it leaves Garth as the favourite followed by Bruce

have a feeling it will be Michael Buble (not really into him). Really hoping it will be Garth Brooks or Bruce Springsteen. Really cant see Garth doing 7 irish shows (Limerick, Cork, Croke Park X2, Belfast, Kilkenny X2) or even Bruce doing the same.

Knowing Garth, and having been lucky enough to meet him several times here on the West Coast of CA, I can say that the chances are pretty good.

When he was here for The Tonight Show taping in November, he hung around signing for fans and taking pictures with them for a good 30-45 minutes after the show.

In fact, I'd go so far to say that if you really want to meet him, get a picture with him, or have something signed, this could be your best opportunity to do so. I'm not sure how many people will be there, but I'd say if ever he's going to stop for fans, it will be tomorrow after the announcement. Find out where his ride goes in and comes out, and wait there with the others that will have the same idea, and on his way out there's a good chance he will stop.

I'm a big fan of Michael Buble. I love, love, love him with a passion. I can tell you that tomorrow's announcement will definately not be from Michael Buble.

Tomorrow's announcement is due to be something big so more than likely it's someone who's starting a big tour.

Michael Buble started touring last summer of 2013 and he's still touring. He has some UK dates in March. The Australian leg of his tour is beginning, I think in late April and runs into May. I don't know what his plans are after this. It doesn't make sense to make a big announcement during a world tour. Like what could he possibly announce that could be so big to be flown into Ireland during his world tour? Unless if he's going to finish his tour in Ireland and plan on making a concert dvd or planning on retiring and his last concert will be in Ireland. Unlikely though.

Why is it so difficult to believe that it's Garth, and he's going to do that many shows? He hasn't played Ireland, or anywhere outside the U.S. for that matter, in 16 years. The demand is there.

I googled 'Gareth Brooks Private Jet' and found info that points to him owning/leasing a jet with the tail number N810GT. See photo here.

There is a website used by flight geeks like me called FlightAware, using this tail number you are able to monitor that planes flight plans. N810GT has a flight scheduled from Bangor Intl to Dublin Airport arriving tomorrow just after 9am. See here

You genuinely believe he has enough fans here to sell 90,000< tickets.. Jaysus I though one direction fans were delusional.. Must be a thing for Croker this year..

I wonder, when tickets go on Sale, probably later in the week on Friday morning, will there be a golden circle section for garth brooks at croker. I've never been to croke park before for a concert so I don't know what pitch standing would be like but I would like to up as close to the stage as possible.

Rumour has it that he's playing a few different venues similiar to what Bruce did last year. I would like to get a few tickets to see him.

lc180 pretty much nailed it, but my good money was on Garth anyway. I don't think the man will have a problem filling Croker seen as how he sold 3 in the past, and this is his comeback tour. Multiple shows like Bruce did seems likely, didn't Kenny Rodgers also do something similar? I reckon Aiken will see how one Croker sells, and after that they will decide what to do with other tour dates (whether he could fill another Croker, and/ or play more small gigs).
